It took me 21 minutes today to get the badge of the day, but I already played the game for 37 minutes on October 1st. It took me 14 minutes to get the easy badge. Then I played 23 minutes and didn't complete story mode. I did get some stat boosts that probably helped me complete story mode today. I used 4 ninjas. They are fast (20 speed), so you can avoid enemies and bullets easier. They also add 20 attack and shoot spread out bullets, so you can hit enemies above and below you. So much easier than Superman, who shoots straight lasers!
This is definitely a tough Badge of the Day! Kongratz to you and all who got it! Most of the week is easier, so if you want to skip today's, you can plan other badges for the shiny kongpanion.

Played forever, then took four Ninjas. Went straight through the game to the final boss and beat him. Ninjas rule, as always.

Well, after i tried the meta team of three ninjas and one cat i went straight from losing on horde 7 to fight the final boss, even if i have still lost with all the useful stats maxed out. Game is fun but i'll give up on today's badget, takes way too much to achieve

Well, whew, took about 6 tries getting owned by final boss and starting all over again, but with some patience it's freaking posible to achieve medium badge. Nice halloween challenge, kong. Happy halloween y'all!

The comments speak the truth! The best way to get to 30,000 points is with 3 Ninjas and 1 Cat. Focus on accumulating candy and all the kills. Spam that Frenzy, don't worry -it recharges quick.

It is frustrating that progress is lost. Twice now, I have gone back down to soldier and have Survival mode locked after closing the game. The second time I checked everywhere to see if there was a way to save, even played a dummy normal run in the hope that it would save my progress.

Apparently the easy badge only requires you to collect 500 candy total, not 500 in one game. As my total for my third attempt (4 Ninja team) was 618 candy, this seems overly generous.

game has surprising depth.
Two complaints
No apparent key bind for pause
and the big one -> you cannot get rank/party upgrades except after death. This turns what should be a skill based game into a grind; quickly sucking the fun out of it.

Contrary to popular belief, all ninjas is not the best team. Pirate Ninjas are the way to go! Pirates and back and ninjas in front gives a much better spread than all ninjas.

My winning setup was 2 ninjas, 1 cat and 1 knight. The cats help you to chain your special attacks nearly right after when your previous special ends. The knight blocks 75% of the incoming damage. Chain that and you'll get a very effective shield.

I definitely agree with NanakoM, it's a fun game, but the speed stat seems to have rather negligent upgrades, making straight shooters nearly useless without at least two ninjas at their side. By the way, I managed to beat the game with two ninjas in the back and two pirates at the front. 4/5

To get 30.000 points, I used 2 ninjas, a fairy, and a cat.
Wave 18 was almost the end for me, but I used my special JUST ENOUGH to get 30010 points before the screen faded completely to black. Good luck if this helps you.

The hard badge is EXTREMELY difficult, at least for me, maybe I don't know some trick. But it's a great game overall, the story mode was a lot of fun, bit lopsided towards ninjas, I think it's literally impossible to beat the game on any mode without ninjas. 4/5 though! Good job, hope there's a sequel.

I remember Halloween as a kid. With the killing-the-aliens and the real weapons and special powers me and my friends had. Oh, and sweet costumes. Good times.

edit: 3 ninja and a cat is better. For the Hard badge, focus on candy upgrade first, as it adds to your score. By the time you get to wave 18, you will need to have earned your 30k points, or be luckier than me.

Yeah, cat to push the ninjas into shuriken overdrive? If you mean getting the special faster, wouldn't you rather have the witch with her +20 Special? And the her special gives attack and speed, instead of the cat's just attack.

Got me the Hard Badge with 2 Ninjas, 1 Cat and 1 Knight. To get to 30.000 you totally need some defence, simple attack won't cut it.

The upgrades don't seem to be much of an upgrade. For example on the run that got the BOTD for me, speed was 2 away from maxed. But in all honesty it still felt and looked like I didn't upgrade at all. This seemed to be the way for other stats too such as attack speed.

It would be great if our elite team could actually turn around!!! I only played with Ninjas because they fill the screan with their shots, and first couple of rounds only bought candy option.Got all badges relatively quickly.

I do like the pixel art, but the concept and balance needed some work on it. Like, instead of an upgrade after you lose, it goes up and upgrades actively. There was potential for a class tree, like if there was leveling for each type of trick-or-treater, and you level up ninja and warrior to a point, you can use samurai. i.e. Fairy & Witch = Sorceress. i.e. Robot & Pirate = Space Bounty Hunter. The class would possess both abilities, but both work at half the power. I do like it very much for a Halloween game though. Thank you~

Hard badge:
3 ninjas and 1 knight. The knight's protection spell is invaluable and the ninjas spread!
Make sure you rack up 30,000 points by the end of level 17 (Do this by upgrading 'candy' as early as possible, killing and collecting everything). You will NOT pass wave 18. You'll see what I mean when you get there.

I got 31668 when I died in the part of wave 18 when the purple bosses riding green monsters show up. For anyone else wondering about where in the game is 30000 for the hard badge.

I just about broke out in a 'Lewsi Black candycorn snit" when the stage boss gave me one for a killing prize. Geeeeee. One point. What will I ever spend it on?

The Medium Badge should be considered HARD, it takes too much time and is too annoying to be a médium one. Please Kongregate choose better badges for the daily quest, this was really annoying to get.

Ragequit. Even with the useful advice from NanakoM et al (and as with most upgrade games) the reward isn't worth the grind.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I upgraded everything before playing wave 13. Upgrade candy first and when it becomes too hard, upgrade something else like attack, speed or health a little bit. If you upgrade everything before candy, it will take too long and probably won't work and also there's no reason to upgrade candy anymore since you've unlocked everything else already.

Awesome game, but I am really sad that there is no zombie. How am I supposed to make a ninjapiratezombierobot squad without a zombie?

Why the hell do you move so slowly when you're trying to go backwards? The enemies are so much faster than you are, so when you dont kill a chaser, and it gets too close, you're getting hit no matter what you try
