I just love how clear the rules are in this game and how playable it is overall. I love that the rules are pretty much taught by the game's environment and narrative premise, which helps us experience the story.
To play, we need to know that:
A) swimming for 10 seconds will kill us
B) entering a dark area will turn off and reset the timer
C) pieces of paper are checkpoints
and D) the moving creatures aren't enemies
And this is how I think we've been taught:
A) the first thing we do is transition from water to land and see the countdown. Moving in water feels different and now there's this timer...
B) the dark areas resemble air pockets in underwater caves.
C) we can fail fast and when we die, we appear next to a note
and D) the creatures have a similar colour palate to the player character
To me the way this game teaches it's rules is part of the game's magic because the quicker we learn, the sooner we can get into the story.

No wonder there were so many fish... They must've been eating his friend. I feel really bad for him. I don't know how anyone could have possibly gone through such a tragic experience of searching. :'(

Who else was a little scared when they saw the octopus/squid? I was afraid I was going to find something creepier, like the smiling corpse of the friend with glowing fish around it.

Why does this make me cry every time I play it?
between this, pretentious game, and company of myself, I almost want to stop using the internet. but at the same time, it's just so beautiful...

If those stupid numbers weren't shoved in my face then I could atleast start playing the game without drowning, way too f*cking distracting man.
