Really togh game, but the puzzles are solvable by logic and the graphics & sounds really contribute to the atmosphere. Did I mention the rendered sequences? Never seen such great animations in any free online game yet... Thumbs up!

I have never, EVER felt such a sense of suspense playing a point-&-click game.
I've also never played one so non-"cutesy" -- not that I object to cuteness, most of my favorite games are cartoony platformers! -- but this's the kind of game a guy can tell his FPS-fanatic friends he enjoyed without being called a wuss.
The intro & ending movies were, indeed, groundbreaking for a game of this type, on top of being impressive in any context.
The stone heads, and the way they spoiler spoiler spoiler, was an awesome touch, mysterious and, yes, totally eerie. I'm actually glad that Red Herring didn't try to explain everything about them in this game, since that would've taken away significantly from the suspense.
I would've enjoyed voices along with on-screen text, & more sound FX. That said, I MUCH prefer a game with no voicework over one with bad voicing (or if big audio files make the game run slower). Maybe in the sequel... There IS going to be a sequel, right?

What a pity about the end of Flash and the end of Kong. This was one of the best games, an easy 5 stars for Morning star. Goodbye.

Loved it, one of the best games i have played. The Visuals were amazing the intro and outro were done professionally it felt real. The story is amazing and doesn't give in to cliches and steal ideas from sci-fi. This game is very long and has lots of different settings and kept me wanting to find out what happened next. 10/10 I would pay to play this game respect the makers

Sir, you have made a really great game.
There is nothing more to say, because i would just repeat the other players.
Well done, sir. Well done.

Good game! But those robot head guys were pretty flipping scary... I was bracing myself to see one jump out of a shadowy corner at any second and have the mission go terribly wrong. And with the creepy music playing it was even more ominous.

totally an epic game 5/5 for story line and 5/5 for background art it would take a total geniuess to make an epic game like this

Usually I do not like point and click because most are similar to each other or because the story does not appeal to me, but this ... this however I was really fascinated by the initial to the final video! The atmosphere of mystery forces you to go on forever and you just can not stop playing! The graphics do not need comments, is just fantastic!
This is definitely one of the best flash games I've ever tried!
What about a "Morning Star 2"?
PS: Sorry if I made mistakes in grammar but English is not my native language ...

In the part with the pillar where you have to blow it up with the explosive, how do you light it using the firecracker? Wouldn't you have to light that also?

Morningstar 2 is currently being developed , the idea on this second series of the morningstar game is : You are driving the spaceship with captain novak after he's healed , then suddenly you heared sound behind the cockpit , its johansen , johansen was dead at the first edition but it actually don't , he scream for help at radio , at that time the cockpit was leaved empty , the system used autopilot now , captain novak bring johansen to the medic room , then you'll play as johansen after this ...
#Ps : morningstar ( the spaceship ) will destroyed at the end and the survivor is only you ( johansen )
I wish this will help ...

This should really include the voice acting, which is excellent by the way. I don't think is fair for us the players to get an incomplete game.

This is one of my favorite games on Kongregate. Gripping storyline and lovely Borderlands-esque graphics make for a masterpiece.

This is an awesome point and click game. I played it a few years ago and was fascinated by the intro...also, during the intro I was listening to New Order's 60 Miles An Hour...the song started at the exact moment as the intro did and it fits the intro perfectly...if you don't believe me, try it yourself

What in the world was the red herring supposed to be used for???
It was a red herring for me, since I tried to use it for just about everything.
Can't destroy crystal? "Red herring I choose you!!!!"

This game's intro truely deserves the label "cinematic" - unmatched by any other flash game I've come across. As the actual game is well-done as well, this is a sure 5/5.

Sweet chocolate Satan, the cinematics to this is closer to something I'd expect to find in the shelves of a videogame store rather than online.

Loved the game, its atmopshere and excellent opening/ending movies! This kind of brings me back into days of old good Robinson's Requiem; and we definitely need more games like that!

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet! Now for a sequel where the UNS returns after learning the whereabouts of the Armstrong and adds some stone heads to the humans collection of biological data.

A red herring in detective stories is a fake clue or lead, so the red herring in this game is most likely a reference to the term.
