Pretty poor but with such great potential.
SUGGESTIONS:
Some better instructions (not even included on Kongregate page)
A smoother selection method.
An option to pick all melee/ranged etc units.
More national fighting (probably not available on a small map).
The rain of arrows should be able to shoot past the enemy's castle.
Enemies shouldn't be able to camp outside the playable screen and take pot shots. Due to a bug(?), I could still target them with a meteor strike.
Hero to be controlled directly or left out altogether.
An auto advance/retreat function (so I don't have to keep tapping X every time a new unit spawns).

Is there an "all units except the Hero" forward/advance button? I spend most of the game tapping X and clicking my Hero back.

The strategy for beginners, choose any hero. Don't forget to equip all cards to your unit/skill cards area. After that, go into battle (obviously). At the start, spam 'Retreat' (so your minions don't walk out) while waiting for all your minions to spawn. When enemy minions arrive let your hero kill them, but don't let him go out too far. When all of your minions have spawned, click 'Forward' and watch how hard the opponent gets demolished. After battle, upgrade your cards however you feel will improve your army well, and do the same thing over and over.

Also, i dont know if it works every time, but its better to attack, than defend. The enemy is much weaker than when you are the one defending.
AFTER unlocking I would suggest using and upgrading lightning and canons, latewr on they are so op :P

For beginers: If you choose Grullbork, I have some tips. First check if you equiped all possible cards. sent 1 or 2 minions to fight and wait for meteor to charge and for minions. On enemy side the minions tend to stay in groups, so using meteor is good choice, but if you hit champion they will go after you. At that moment send all minions you have. Dont send the champ. to fight, if it isnt neccesary. Instead let him stay in the back so when the lower healthed champ. encouters him, you can easily kill him. After you kill the champ. just spam the send minions and champ. to battle until you win. (Works mostly at the beggining, later you need different tactic)

A couple things that should be added in. 1. The you have at the beginning should be assigned to the deck automatically. 2. There should be an exclamation point or something under the equip option when you gain a new card. Otherwise a new player might not be able to realize what they need to do to get started.

I jsut started playing and am not sure how this works, but my starter had meteor and I was able to just meteor enemy champion as he charges over alone and faces my entire army alone, so I remove him from the picture easily and win the game

I like how each restart adds on to the previous run, so you can do it easier and not just for the sake of starting over. Also it's challenging yet not infuriating. In other words, it's a fun and fair game. 5/5

tactic that works for me:
troops: black knights, phantom armor, frost giants, centaur archers, witches and fire demon.
spells: lighting bolt, hercules strength, athena protection and healing.

A fun tactic that got me through every single game except the last hero and CoT 2-5 (Haven't finished game or tried the other CoT's yet): A high hp melee unit of each colour and as much damage as you can muster from the rangers. Send 'em all in, make sure you have either lightning bolt or ice (fireball works as well but takes more time) use these on the first revenge wave to clear em all out then use the invincibility card and just spam the forward button if there're succubi pushing your units back...
The aim is to kill the castle, not the revenge wave. My preferred units: Dragon Rider, Black Knight and Yeti/Fire Titan matched with Succubi, Mermaids and Centaurs. I'll probably switch centaurs for witches when I get them, but I still haven't found them -_-

3)When all your monsters are ready send them all into the enemy base using some healing or damange speel to keep them safe. 4)When the group is near the enemy castle use the Athena spell to keep them safe and the Hercules for increases the damange. Maybe the first time may not work but this is all a work of timing. With this I wish you good luck. Have a nice day =D

How to beat the 5° Cave of Trial: for beating this level you have probably already noticed that the "ghost goblin", if provocated, can defeat all your foes with just one hit, but, if the skill Athena is activated, this attacks can be neutralized. So here my strategy: 1)Equip your best monster cards (you can take a look too in Br34ky's comment at the top 5 comment above) but be sure to having a Athena and Hercules spells at lv 5 in your deck (can be gain by compleating the Red and Green campaigns) 2)While in combat use some damange spell to kill the Bomber guys and provoke the enemy general (but don't hit the ghost too of course, he must not move), meanwhile keep all your allies in safe with "retreat". *-continue in the next comment, sorry for the inconvenience-

nice :D, beat cave 5 before all others thanks to this thread: here are the must haves to beat Cave 5.Spells:Athena, Phoenix, Hercules, Comet and Healing spell. Troops: Centaurs, Succubus, Mermaids, Witches, goblins and the black knight keep this commnet alive by copy pasting it but since I had Grullborg Grimtooth I had enough mana to replace goblins and black knights by frost giant and dragon rider + i had the lightning bolt card extra it worked out just fine^^

hm apparently if your a witch you have to bind your soul to your broomstick. at least that's the only reason i can figure out why witches die when there broomsticks break. huh who would a figured. i wonder if it effects wizards too. *snaps harry potters broomstick*..................i don't think it worked but just to be safe.*leaves comments*

Ah, I'm back. When straight to here after the first battle in Epic War VI. I needed a good Epic War game to wash off the taste.
