the beginning of the game, I mean before you enter rune scape it's self, sucks personally I liked the old rune scape beginner guide. The one were you ran from one destination to the other and figured out how to work each skill. That one was fun but now it's a crappy guy fighting a dragon in a small dungeon which to me is not fun. I think that the beginning to the game is it's major down fall so to all you starters that read this comment please play until your a level 15 at at least 4 things trust me after that (unless the skill is completely useless) things will start getting better and better

you dont understand, free to play just means that there is actually content in the game that is unpaid for by the player, membership is for those who wish to support jagex, and suppost the further development of runescape. just so you know, runescape has one of the largest areas and largest content in a free-to-play environment, at no point in the game does jagex order you to buy membership, or stop playing. you can, at any point, become a member if you so wish to, as free-to-play acts as a taster for these people, but if you dont wish to do this, free-to-play acts as a reasonable online game in itself. you will find that not many things in life are free, enjoy it.

just wanna say this... runescape is a good game but it really sucks. not because its gameplay/content but they advertise as a FREE TO PLAY MMORPG if you see any ads on the internet about runescape it was FREE TO PLAY it doesnt have with premium content just FREE TO PLAY when you click that ad and play just a few days you constantly get shot in the face with PAY TO PLAY OR GTFO that is all.

Runescape has all the elements a good mmo should have. It has a good combat system, skills, large quest number, immense worlds, numerous monsters, and a lot for non-paying members to do. Most of the people who don't like the game probably haven't played long enough to experience the vast expanse of options available.

I played this game well before I found it on Kong, and I loved it it was one of the best games I've ever played yet when I look at the rating it looks like it sucks but it doesn't suck I mean i had a terrible time at firs but then it got good people just need to play it longer. 5 stars great game :)

I don't know why people give this game bad ratings on graphics. I would like to see you guys make a better game, also taking in the fact that this is a freaking BROWSER BASED GAME! You can't say it is stupid because it lags, or that it is bad, because there trying, and you aren't. Private Message me a link to a game like this that you think is better, that YOU made. wow i love the new holiday item it makes me fel beter, when i started the easter ring was around i didnt know what it was or how to get it but i dont miss it anymore, being a pile of bones is better and less inconpsicious, the easter ring is like the ring of rock and turns u into a rock maybe cooler, maybe not.

I like this game but it has a little too much grinding.Putting on christmas ghost hat,black armor and blurite sword terrifies a lot of new players though!

@Kinglad12 There is no Runescape 3 and never will. Runescape 2 didn't exist either as such. 2 refers only to the change of graphic engine and certain game aspects, after this Runescape is simply called Runescape regardless of updates (The current engine is Runetek 5 btw). Stop talking bs like RS3 having more skills. You are probably messing with some private server which is illegal anyway.

For those people who have read the comments and still aren't convinced or simply don't know the game yet: This game is HUGE. Think of a true fantasy setting and what you'd like to do, and then do it just like you want to. Apart from running around naked you can do virtually anything and Jagex regularly updates, adds and improves the gameworld to keep things interesting.
A must-try for everyone, even non-gamers could have a blast and get themselves a new hobby. Why are you still reading this? Go play it!

@fenixhelland a mith set? who cares? mith set is nothing but if it was barrows or dragon which costs mills some might feel sorry for you but mith set is only like around 10k its nothing compared to rune set!

this is so fun when your a high cb lvl... and I do like the range of skills you have to choose from and the graphics are pretty good compared to some games...

My compare
Pros:
- Free classing (level up anything you want, you can be a smith, fighter, cooker, mage or all of them at same time)
- Free2Play
- No download
Cons:
- Since WoW is a like 20gb (installed size) game: Worse graphics, sounds, animations, game is flowing, less stuff, no mounts etc
- Lack of Direction
- Slower Paced
I dont say RuneScape is better than WoW
I say RuneScape isn't the worst game ever it deserves a lot more than 3.30 and its an excelent Java-Browser game

I just gave 5/5 not because that game deserves it but because to get it a little higher then 3.30 because it should be about 4.20
This game gets so overrated by RuneScape haters all around the world
I think its a beautiful game devoloped by dedicated devolopers (+ to keep this up and I suggest most people to change their rating to 5/5 to keep it balanced againts the RuneScape haters)

@r0b1nk0 Runescape doesnt even compare to WOW and u just dont kill in it, you do quests and get a flying mount plus WOW actually has a storyline. Plus you can choose your class, race, and everything. Also in WOW the graphics are amazing, I love runescape but in my opinion its nothing compared to WOW.

As of now, the only bad side of Runescape is that the skillcapes are P2P (until you were a P2P someday and used a skillcape at least 1 time) D: 4.99/5 (-0.01 for Skillcapes)

Runescape is a great game. Sure, it's not the best graphically but it offers a hell of a lot more things for F2P(Free to play) players than other games. Sure, some skills are strictly member-only but most are not. This game receives bad press...why? It only gets it because of the noobs who keep dying most likely, or those who never played it.

Runescape is the best MMORPG because it's not combat based, YOU DON'T have to kill monsters to get better or to have a stat's limit go up. You can simply walk around and do what you want, but being a higher combat level does help. This game is clearly better then WoW because u can pay only $5 a month do have tonnes more benefits than in any other game. In WoW it's repetitive, all you do it kill things "Thats really fun isn't it?" (sarcasm)
