In the 8th level, where you have to blow up the aliens' entrance points you can farm some exp. Place at each entrance a soldier with the assault rifle (the 3rd one with the bayonet), in defense mode. The aliens will get killed instantly without using ammo. I had 3 soldier with the assault rifle, 1 sniper and the armored marine (these other can be used to clear the level of the other monsters and, in my case blow up the 1st entrance). You can level up a couple of times before you run out of aliens (around the 25th turn).

XenoSquad is a perfectly passable game, but if you want a really good successor to Incubation or just any asymmetrical human-vs-alien turnbased strategy game, play Mission in Space : the lost colony. It's everything that XenoSquad is but executed 10 times better. The plot is way less flimsy, the aliens are more intimidating, the troopers are more varied in their skills, and the combat system is more engaging.
Plus there's about 3 times as much content and replay value -- despite also having just 12 levels -- because of multiple difficulties, challenge medals that force you to fight stronger enemies with weaker troops, and rewards for beating a level with no casualties. All the features that XS has, like alternate win conditions, limited supplies, and units with exclusive skills, MIS has more of.

Great game, I look forward for the next one. The levels that are suppose to be unlimited are false advertisement. But I had a laugh at it while I farmed some exp from the pot holes. The Assault/Bayonet combo are in my opinion the go to weapon for this game. I rarely used the sniper except for those camping buggers across the map. I only lost 3 of my marines in the game; one from the mortar bugs and the other 2 from platforms.. This game is easy but highly enjoyable. I give it a cat, plus two bananas, and ice cream.

On the "survive 20 rounds" map, I cleaned the place out in 17 rounds. (I killed all enemies and destroyed all spawn points.) I was kind of expecting there to be an achievement, but there wasn't.

Developer: Is there some very heavy influence from an old Blue Byte game called Incubation: Time Is Running Out? This almost instantly took me back to that game. Much as that shows my age a bit lol.

Great game! In level 12 I was one turn ahead of a mayor victory. Maybe I try this again :)
Zooming in and out would be nice. And "fog of war" should be considered for a challenging mode.

The progress in the game is too easy once you get about halfway. I had all the characters maxed somewhere around level 6-7 (Unit level 8 is maxed). The last level is way too easy as it only took 3 turns. Can't attack on the first turn, killed 2 on the second and 1 on the third. Sniper is also far weaker than assault rifle since it has no melee ability. Not worth the purchase.

Huh, nice "Incubation: Time is running out" remake. Good job so far, but having more weapons to choose from would be nice.

The easiest level was the last one, if I had 5 or maybe 10 more turns I could have probably destroyed all the enemies exits. The secret was just to hide a soldier with an assault rifle behind a corner and defend yourself, you become invicible, it doesn't matter how many enemies will reach you in a single turn, you will one-shot them all without even wasting ammo.

Please make a sequel! Great game, can become awesome with a few improvement, like many already suggested: - minimap, undo button, more detailed skill tree (I used 5 different weapon for the sake of it), status without AP, info tab (breakdown of AP use, briefing without restarting), level editor.

in turn based games, there shuld always be an undo button for the current turn to do again, just before clicking "end turn". No wonder, I will give 1/10 becuz some ppl disliked my comments, I will give it 10/10 only if I get likes on my comments.

This is a pretty cool game. It has lots of nods to XCOM and Fire Emblem, with it's own little specialiaties. I give it a solid 8.5/10.

Nice game that was doable in a reasonable amount of time, thx to Lifragen's post. Really enjoyed the final level and took the challenge to not only survive 20 rounds but clear the level. Made it in 19 and had a nice 'yay' moment to finish this game

Two tips: 1. The gun with the bayonet is extremely useful. Place a soldier at a choke point or spawning site, put them on guard, and they'll make quick work of most weaker enemies with no ammo wasted. This is also a good way to get XP. 2. Speaking of which, XP is retained even when you restart a stage. If you want to, you can grind yourself to max level in a single stage by killing everything and reseting. Combine with bayonets and the stage with infinite enemies (first one with Magnus) for great effect.

Needs a birds-eye view mode, as well as possibly adding something like a cover system (my guys on the corner of a wall and has no dodge bonus?) great otherwise.

Pretty sure this is unintentional on the dev's part, but if you restart the mission you keep the xp and credits earned to that point, so you can reach max lvl on stage 1 if you can be bothered to grind for it lol.
