So I can hold off a horde with 240 power with 135 survivor power, but I can't hold off a horde with 60 power with 7 soldiers on guard duty?

Kind of a cheat/hack on harder or nightmare difficulty for if you fail a horde or surprise attack.
When the screen does the black hole to switch to the attack animation, double click to skip the attack animation and if you fail, quickly refresh the page.
If your fast enough the game will load from before the attack and you can try again with more defenders or to get a favorable RNG (random number generator) value so you win.

Tip for Harder: New game until you get a map with a hospital/school/lab spawn next to each other in the same row (and also near your first 4 building too). Was finishing up getting the 25 squares badge when I suddenly unexpectedly happened upon an evil graveyard that proved to be my route to the next badge.
The next month was brutal but satisfying.

12% chance to fail = -12% health on one soldier (in terms of long-run statistics) - so don't make dumb gambles on harder lol

Whoops, my mistake; the prior are the Endings for Rebuild. For Rebuild 2, the four endings are: Judgement Gang; Laboratory; City Hall; and Helicopter. (I also choose to reclaim the whole city.)

the 'hard' part about hard is when the game wipes out your 1% risk scouts and you lose half your base almost every turn when there's like 500 zombies to 50 defence

I love this game. Very well done, however - my own character leader decided to steal food, leave, and throw somebody to the zombies. That was beautiful.

"horde spotted! roughly 500-600 zombies" Ivan reported. "god, we must not go near it." A scout returned from a mission and said "MCnoodles was overruned by 1000 zombies." Phil replied "seems legit, now send 5 soldiers to kill them." Ivan was skeptical.

"where was the survivors on the area?"
Ivan simply said
"What survivors?"

7 years later, and I finally beat it on harder. There's a lot of luck needed to not get screwed by the random blights and people dying and stuff, but there are ways to minimize the risks. I just recruited and expanded aggressively towards one corner of the map on the rural (right) side of the city. Every normal survivor I got I put on guard duty to make them a soldier. The graveyard was in that corner, so when I got to it and had killed enough zombies in it to be able to reclaim it, I had made/gotten enough soldiers to close the portal. I started that immediately and just focused on defending for the 10 turns. That's what worked for me, hopefully this helps someone. I'm just glad to be done with this.

Got down to 2 survivors at about 75 days, they refused to die! I bailed out at day 85 to start over. "Leave da gun, take da cannoli." :-)
