Love this game. And the random events are both frustrating and hilarious. My scavengers found crates of porno mags from the 80s in a motel and a McNoodles (wtf was going on there lol) in the same day. Winning.

Is it just me but when you put all your forces out to protect your fort the zombies dont attack.
But when you take out half your forces to do stuff the zombies come in and wipe out like 4 people and 1 block......

I think that you should try and use a level up system for this game. Increasing a single units survivability on missions(making a scavengers ability to find more increase, or soldiers ability to survive/increase defense of the fort etc). This would make it easier on the higher difficulties.
Also I think Science should do more. Like being able to construct defenses for the fort(Cannons, Mortars and other stuff). Then you have to scavenge for the parts and finally have your units construct the defense until it malfunctions or something. This would make the game more interactive and more possible at the higher difficulties. Still a solid 5/5 though.

The game has 4 endings:
1.Controll all squares
2.After completing all researches (in the lab) there will be a new research called "Cure Zombeism" which needs 50% happiness,5 scientist and the control of 3 labs(i mean you have to reclaim 3 labs). It will take 10 turn to finish this research and win.
3.Eventually you will discover a City Hall square which will have A LOT of zombies (Overrun).Reclaim it and you'll need 50% happiness again and 5 Leaders. This will take 10 turns too to win.
4.If you kill all the zombies fro the Evil graveyard (which are a lot, overrun again) and reclaim it you will be able to close the portal and win the game.It takes 50% happiness (again) and 15 soldiers. You will win after 10 turns.
Note that you CAN get all the 3 remaining endings after completing 1.And Smithman, there IS an ending for the evil graveyard

As mentioned many times before, on harder and up difficulties, the game just seems to pile on the disadvantages an an unfair rate. You're starting area has no churches or bars near by? Moral drops to 0 from the large populace of dogs dying every day. No hospital near by to start? Say goodbye to a person every day from disease. And that is before you even begin to worry about the Zombies.

This hard badge might as well be impossible considering you need a godlike start and a couple dozen lucky coin flips to even stand a chance against the literally random battles.
Anyway, some tips I found are that
A) Churches will always be safe (at least during the first 3 turns) so if you start next to one, send your leader immediately.
B) Making a beeline to a corner of the map isn't always the best choice, since rural areas (farms, trailer parks and graveyards) spawn on the right side of the map, and urban (apartments, malls and rubble) will spawn on the left, so if you're going towards the right consider grabbing a couple houses first, if you're going to the left get some farms otherwise you'll starve by turn 5.
C) The game is basically an excesively long dice roll, so if you get a bad start don't be afraid to reroll and try to get something good.
Good luck!

Well, I finally got the hard badge. That was ridiculous. I had to find my save file and constantly back it up until I found the perfect method to win. There's not strategy in harder or hardest. You just have to beat the random bad luck they throw against you. Have fun.

I love how the mechanics of this game are in depth, but also easy to understand. On of my favorite parts of this game is that it doesn't make you feel like a banker; just managing numbers. It's great how it has a story when something good or bad happens, instead of it just saying "Soldiers died of sickness", or "scavenge mission failed". An over all great game. 5/5, well earned.

I beat it on harder, but if you think harder is bad, check out Nightmare:
You start with 25 food and -6/day. That means starvation at the beginning of the day 6, or day 5 if your population increased by one. You WILL have starvation before you reclaim a building unless you scavenge. Sparing guys for the scavenge is rough when you only have three soldiers and need to reclaim stuff.
On nightmare, your people die from disease ALL THE TIME if you don't have a hospital. You ALSO need two farms and housing ASAP and have to focus on reclaiming the buildings that have food in them.
You are almost guaranteed to go down to zero morale in the first two weeks. Good thing the consequences of low morale don't occur on low day numbers.
On nightmare, in about three weeks, you reach a situation where even having your entire starting population guarding would result in a danger level of 40-50+ on days that DON'T have a horde attack.
Did I mention you only start with one builder?

Nice game, well thought out. The actual attacks coould be more graphic/interactive, though. Very realistic take on Z day, methinks :-)

Easy = Are we even in a apocalypse?
Normal = Seriously this feels like playing on easy...
Hard = Okay this is better
Harder = WTF this is impossible...
Nightmare = FFFFFFUUUUUU!!!
Only the magic of reporting the bug so I'll know about it and fix the game - sorry about that. Version 1.31 has working badges and you can get the badges you missed by loading a game and advancing the day.

Very good. More frustrating than hard on the harder difficulties. Biggest gripe is the % numbers don't seem to have much relation at all to real percentages - I had the defences on about 40% chance of loss and was only losing about 10% of the time, I sent scouts at 5% chance of loss and was losing about 20% of them...

some strangers rolled up and offered to help with our zombie problem. They killed zero in all. We offered to pay them but they said they were just doing their job. How very helpful of them lol

I got all the endings and played until day 371 only to see if they were going to celebrate 365 days alive in this zombie apocalypse, but nothing happened :/.

trail park is too full of zombies who will probably attack us tonight, so we need to fortify our defenses. We had to cancel the zombie slaying from that square in order to make these preparations...what. The. Hell?

Day 586 of trying to achieve hard badge, and I think I got it now. 30 soldiers and....wait, why are you tearing down the hospital to build a church. No don't, oh no, No Eyes Magee died of a hang nail, Johnny Northway died from a runny nose.....Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

"nobody liked bear for all the complaining but we were suprised when today someone killed him we still dont know who" i look at my population theres only one guy left "dan cooper" i wonder who killed him

Did it the good ol' fashion way. Killed every single zombie and reclaimed everything in 245 days. Long live the glorious city of Pantopolis! XD

Won the game by curing zombism, by conquering everywhere, by establishing a constitution and by destroying the zombie portal.. all in the same game! 5/5

@Shaggy02; how the deuce did you beat it on nightmare? the real zombie apocalypse is going to be easier to live through than the nightmare difficulty on this game...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Definitely one of the better games released the past couple months. Replayability and quite challenging on harder mode... still yet to beat it.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
needing to get lucky on the harder difficulties to win is amazingly stuipd & unfun. Day 2 a plague kills 3 of my citizens, 2 of them soldiers. Pretty much impossible after that. Great game otherwise.

Day 6000: 2 survivors remain, full food, and 145% happiness, they are both leaders, no hospitals or labs remain, it has been like this for over 1000 days...apparently mating never occurs...my people are pandas
