This was fantastic! Funny, moving, interesting and challenging. This is a rare 5/5 for me. I'd love to see another game built around this concept!
Now I'ma go back and hang around a village for a couple hundred years and see how advanced the people get.

Maybe the 'traveler' is a reference to another of scriptwelder's games, Deep Sleep? (with the dream being another world and all)

Oh! I am so sorry - meant to also say how much I like this game. The subtleness of the background music really offsets the slow, deliberate pace of the game. Very well done.

Sometimes to overcome he just had to wait. And thus, he waited 400 years for the sheer edge of the lake to erode away, leaving a slope he could walk up. But alas, it was too late. The world had ended.

Really good game, 4/5, it was too short and storyless, id like to see more, maybe upgrades too, and a better ending, really good anyway :) good job.

Great game tho I found the ending a little weak... love to see an expanded version...spreading humanity on other planets perhaps...

what do you do if you mak a mistake?refresh the screen? I misplanted the first chestnut, and I don't see any way to go back undo, or even rstart the game.

This game is really good. It's different! At the same time it's sad. time flies.. While playing this game, it felt like I was really young yesterday... Now that i'm 23 omg!!

I really don't understand this game,i'm stuck at the tree ... I can't come on the rock (that big wall in front of the tree) So no positive rating from me ! Yes I already used space but the tees only die and still nothing ... and on one moment 'm out of years ... SIGH !

the concept is nice, but the walking speed is just horrible. Like when planting the grain.. watching the hero just waddle along slowly takes forever.

@alibulibadaha : Do NOT restart your browser. You will have to disable all over again. Chrome 24 (the latest stable version) has a bug that on most systems will re-enable Pepper flash on every browser start.

lol, I can only imagine what kinda wild crazy religion these folks develop thanks to the moai that wakes up and walks around for no reason then stops for another 40 years.

FrozenFire - Some people are living in stone-age conditions right now. The people you encounter in the game could be refugees, or cut off from the rest of humanity. You're right about the volcano, though - blocking it might delay the eruption, but pressure will eventually build up to the point that it explodes - possibly being worse than if it wasn't blocked.

Very intelligent concept. The story matches the gameplay (or is it the contrary?), and is very compelling.. I think it was just the right length to appreciate it.

Great & unique concept. Meaningful although short. I loved every bit of this little game, from the relaxing and serene music, perfectly fitting the theme, to the changing environment and very concept of "waiting game" implemented in such an original and beautiful way. Great work scriptwelder, though I wish it was longer, at least twice as long.

Do not try this at home, it will not stop volcanoes from erupting! The pressure would make the whole thing explode. Plus you would get burned because magma.

Waited to see if humans would advance beyond the stone houses.
Lost ;_;....
Meh, I won't start over, Ill watch the ending on youtube.
Lesson learned: NEVER WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MOMENT, WETHER ITS A MARRIAGE/PROJECT/THIS GAME/ANYTHING

This game is really beutifull! In so many aspects! just wow... I love the idea of waiting for nature to do it's work ^^

First of all, great game and original concept. It is not very often you find a game that presents original gameplay, mixed with interesting ideas and questions.
I know alot of people are asking for the ability to walk faster, (and I would usually agree,) but I actually enjoyed the slow pace of the stone monolith because it lent itself to the idea of this Easter isle - type demigod intervening on humanity's behalf. As a result, I found myself asking alot of questions about the meaning behind it; plus, the visual image of this behemoth standing there, waiting, while 100 years sped past was sublime. Especially, contrasted against the hurry and panic of a human lifetime.
All in all, it is a beautiful presentation of supernatural / supra-natural forces working behind the scenes to assist and intervene on our behalf, in ways the we just don't notice for many reasons.
Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts on 400 Years. I think you've captured exactly what I tried to show with this game. I love your interpretation !

So I went to the far right of the map and found this "Here lies a traveler between worlds, whose name is unknown. May his curious soul find a way home, like you have found his resting place.", who is this traveler?

Quick tips for people who have trouble: 1. Water freezes in winter 2. if you see a tree or a stalagmite near a ledge, wait for it to grow 3. Chestnuts drop in Autumn, then plant them near a ledge 4. Grain can be picked up in autumn as well, deliver it to the citizens via the underwater passage and then plant it on the left side of the village 5. To get a helping hand, you need to wait for the people to develop after having planted the grain, they will build two bridges (one after the other) after a while. 6. Observe the underwater path, position yourself above the hole in winter, then wait 7. the boat gets to the left on spring and right on autumn. Go to the left of the town, you will see a ledge with chestnuts to be planted on the other side. 8. Get into the volcano, the end.

Walk Faster? Patience, dear friends, patience. Nitpicking time though: Since the game ends on winter 2013 and you have 400 years, we can say that the game begins in 1613, which is NOT the Stone Age as humans are displayed. Also, we can say that you can't just put a massive stone block on a volcano to stop an eruption, but that can be excusable to a certain degree.

ATTENTION, CHROME USERS! To (significantly) better your flash performance, do the following: Go to chrome://plugins , Click "details" to unfold plugins info. Under "Adobe Flash Player" you should have two or three files listed. Only one will be something like C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\ and the others will be Chrome's files. The flash installed in your system directory is the one best optimised for your PC, while the Chrome ones are universal (and less performing). Disable the Chrome ones and leave the system files. Maybe restart your browser. VOILA!

Interesting concept. I like the music, but also think the character should walk faster or the distance between puzzles should be shorter.
