Pretty cool and creepy game. One thing though: getting a rag wet before using it to touch something hot actually makes it MORE conductive of heat and it will cause you to burn the shit out of yourself. Trust me, i learned that the hard way.

me playing by walkthrough, WalkTrough: Get the pickax, me: alright, grab and go to WT tab, WT: leave room fast, Me: why?, go to game tab, OH GOD!!!!
I think at this point it's all answered (by someone) on my twitter or somewhere in comments :) EDIT: I mean, seriously guys - what's the point of _secrets_ if I'm telling you everything? :P

Man, it was just a silhouette with white dots for eyes but add some atmosphere and a good sound effect and I was totally freaked out. I was genuinely afraid I wouldn't be able to crank that door closed fast enough!

When you get to the furnace wall, try clicking & dragging on it. You don't have to single click. I only wish I knew that an hour ago... :-p
Naming things in games like this is HARD sometimes :D So what would you call it? Nethook or Hook.NET perhaps? :D ...Although this item in game's source is called a 'ladder' :O

My blood ran cold on two occasions during this game. For that alone you would get a really high rating, but with 8 pixels, you are getting five stars sir. Very well done.

Wake up... You have to wake up... Wake up... You have to wake up... Stayed in that room for about 5 minutes, listening to that.

Ha, I've never ever had actual goosebumps from a game - until now, despite only playing through this in safe, reassuring daylight... not looking forward to bedtime now =/ thanks, scriptwelder...

To answer a couple questions.
1. The lucky piece of coal is a reference to the game Broken Sword 2. It doesn't actually do anything.
2. The Statue is named stephano and is a reference to pewdiepie's play through of Amnesia the dark descent on YouTube, it also doesn't do anything.
3. Haven't figured out the scale yet...
I do suggest you guys check out both of those games as they are quite good.

To get the batteries.first they are in the desk on the same floor as the skeleton.BUT you need to find the KEY first.so to get the key:(1)take a bone from the skeleton.(2)find the old cloth.(3)go down the stairs and into the room with the pipes.(4)soak the old cloth take them down the other set of stairs.(5)find the furnace.BUT if you notice to the right of it and click on the small box which will tell you it needs a lever.thats where the skeleton bone comes in.(6)place the wet old cloth on the red wheel on the furnace.turn it.get inside.(7)the key is on the ground.ALSO if you click on the wall inside the furnace you can remove some of the "ashes" from the wall and find "4" numbers.BTW get that number wrote down somewhere you WILL need it.and thats how you get the batteries for the flashlight.you're welcome. SO RATE THIS COMMENT SO IT CAN HELP OTHERS.

This game is the perfect type of horror game. Nothing pops out but just the style and plot of the game is enough to make you scared. The pixel style is the perfect style for this game. Like a static TV but with horrors deep inside, one wrong move and your whole world could be screwed up. Like the fear of something coming out of your closet or from under your bed, that is the type of fear this game brings. Truthfully I got scared many times during this game. Great game 10/10

Love this game. I got a little freaked out though when the combination in the furnace was the last four digits of my previous phone number. Coincidence anyone?

Tip: Don't play this alone in a dark room in the middle of the night in a creaky house. I almost threw my mouse at the furnace on the screen.

Wait, did I miss it or did that coal and the golden statue serve absolutely no purpose? What was the point of picking them up?

Games like this would be so much better if it wasn't for the whiteness that hits your eyes from the Kongregate site... if only there was an option for either full screen or to darken everything outside the game.

This game gave me SERIOUS chills. The graphics are gritty and leave you squinting to see...not in a bad way...in a super involved way. It captures you. The sense of ambience created is very smooth and..well..creepy as hell. The tiny random occurrences either made me flinch or actually shudder involuntarily..and the first time you see that thing's eyes at it comes for you?? I'm 30 years old and damn near pissed myself. Where were games like this 15 years ago??

Amazing how scary low-res can be. Incidentally, anyone who has pursued lucid dreams may come across the dilemma of whether or not it is a real place in some sense, or whether the beings you meet are real.
