The use of barricades is to really cut off the enemy's vision to your troops in walls behind the barricades, this way the troops can minimally but effectively harm the enemies desperately trying to break through the barricades to harm your troops. Not realistic. (Even though some games need to be unrealistic)

Only the best TD game I've ever played. This should be the model for future TD games. I liked the idea of being able to build a castle, but eventually actually just made stand alone 2x2 towers with an open path to my garrison, that they never made it to. It also prevented the enemy from posting just out of range and shooting at my castle wall.
I'd like to see a longer storied mode, where the first battle was at the border and the last battle was defending your capital. The strength of the final army against you influenced by how well, or how poorly you defending the outlying keeps.
As for balance, yeah, units do become over powered soon. Necessary for the marathon round, but these unit bonuses could be adjusted to provide multiple difficulty levels.
Other than that, the development of some different defensive artillery and siege equipment.
And finally a random map generator for endless, every changing fun.

Nice concept, but units are not balanced -- no point in ever building cannon, game gets progressively less interesting as achievements make it even easier to win.

i think the game should let you build mobile units to fight as well as defense or just plain place troops on the ground atleast

it would be nice to have a way to upgrade or place a lot of structures and soldiers quickly, instead of plonking them down one by one

And if you have one of the repair cheeves you can get stuck in an infinite fight where you can't kill the last enemies and they can't kill you.

This game is great, I love building fortresses with lots of angles so you can maximize fire on the enemy.
I will say, playing as the British just isn't fair sometimes, Greenjackets make it so the enemy can't touch your walls. Maybe for Master of Fortresses II, make ranges similar for all factions, but give Greenjackets a chance for headshots (crits)?

early on prussion 3rd tier troops suck due to extremely low range and problems with the icon next to your gold not working well when the entire army is left.

Used to be good, now Too many glitches.....now unplayable. After 5-6 levels some enemies with limitless range show up and destroy everything

so many bugs, this was lucky to get a badge. technically, an elevated unit should never be out-ranged by those on ground level.

I realised the best basic stratagy is to not even build cannons...They are expensive and far less effective then a massive amount of greenjackets. Such a narrow firing arc and slow fire rate, the fact enemies get squashed like bugs just doesn't make up for it...
