Under rating threshold (show) The game shows a lot of potential. Some things I would recommend are basically everything Creature71 mentioned. Also, perhaps the ability to change key controls and/or movement controls. WASD or Arrow Keys for movement as an example. Also, I would suggest an "Auto Tracking" Feature so that if I click up the stairs, my character will move around an obstacle and go up the stairs. As far as an idea in response to your comment of-"As for the Karma question - we'd love to hear your idea for a model which solves your problem while also putting food on our table. We need to eat." Perhaps a "Vanity Shop" Offering exclusive looks or familiars. If a change in the repetitiveness and grind is made, you will be able to establish a devoted base of players who would more then likely be more then willing to pay for vanity items. Allowing for a lowered cost in in game currency, while still giving you the developer, money to eat.

All great suggestions. Most of this stuff is already planned and on the way. Keep the feedback coming. We're listening! :)

Under rating threshold (show) Two criticisms. First, there is way too much lag between hit animation and hit confirmation. Second, there seems to be a spatial problem where you are unable to move to the place you click on despite there being nothing in your actual path (for exmaple, you are blocked by enemies but the path you are on is not that narrow and you should be able to escape). This same problem seems to affect not being able to pick up dropped loot.

There are some pathfinding issues that are being deal with as we speak. Keep an eye on future builds for this to be solved. As for framerate... wondering if this is simply a network connection (lag) issue? Are you in some far-flung part of the world?

Under rating threshold (show) The game looks really promising! I love the art style, including the music. It's like a Diablo spin-off with a heavy oriental element to it. I also like the class diversity - there are only 3 simple choices which don't seem to overlap much. I sincerely hope that the final game feels more fleshed out and less grindy.

Under rating threshold (show) I've only played a little bit at the moment, but I'm really liking the art style and the theme of the game. However as a bit of a nitpick, the Fortitude "class" is based on a Samurai, yet they start with a Great Maul? It would seem more appropriate to have a kanabo or a tetsudo, as I don't think the Japanese ever used an actual maul... of course, a katana is the most appropriate weapon for a samurai, or a bow actually...

Under rating threshold (show) In response to the devs response to creature71's comment, I would say that you should add an energy system or some sort of barrier from continuously playing (but hopefully a faster energy system than other games). That way you can encourage people to generate ad revenue by coming back every time their energy is nearly ready, and also possibly make money off of people who want to buy energy and keep coming back. It seems the real problem is that each level is nearly the same battling, so that needs to be fixed first, but an energy system rather than forced grinding for would probably make more money (so paying money lets you go farther rather than save time).

Developer response from Spicyhorse

Well... ok. It's incredibly weird to hear players ASKING for an energy system... and the idea goes against everything we were trying to do in order to keep from making one of those "play, wait, play wait" style of games. Honestly, we hate that feeling - and feel like blocking access to game play through things like energy systems is "evil." That being said, it's clear those types of games are making tons of revenue... and now you guys (players) are even suggesting it. Anyway, it would be a MAJOR change, so don't expect we can tackle that anytime soon. We're going to watch the first few weeks post-launch and then return to this idea. Thanks!

It's a big game. You can grab the full client via angry-red.com - all 500mb of data can be downloaded at once. And you can play outside your web browser.

Under rating threshold (show) As for suggestions, I think it would be better if you could provide some tracking options. At the moment, your character goes to wherever you click, and even when you hold down the mouse, it will still divert your character around an obstacle in order reach where your mouse is pointing. I believe you should add an option for it to not do that. At the moment, if I want to run towards a wall, and stop right next to it, I need to make sure when I drag my mouse that I keep it on the same side of the wall, instead of on the other side. Instead of my character just stopping at the wall, now he goes ALL THE WAY AROUND to the other side of the wall, just because I happen to be holding my mouse down in the initial direction I wanted to go.

Under rating threshold (show) Looks okay so far. I've only been playing for five minutes though. The first problem though is the framerate. I'm not sure if it's a universal problem, but for me, its pretty bad. The cursor lags behind my mouse pointer by about 1.5 seconds, making it very difficult to navigate. If you want, I can provide some browser info or something.

Try to client version maybe? angry-red.com has the links. Then let us know if there are still issues. Main question when it comes to performance will be what type of computer you're on and connection speed. If you're on a laptop with integrated graphics, things might get a bit slow. It's a big game and it requires a decent amount of processor power.

Under rating threshold (show) Energy is a tricky thing to balance, but no matter how fair it is, players will always complain about being kept from something they want more of. It's the exact same reason why it makes it profitable, as it prolongs the game and keeps players coming back. At this point it's a matter of opinion though. Personally, i would rather play an enjoyable game just an hour or two a day, than have to spend hours boringly grinding for just a bit of progress. Alternatively, you could also offer content that is purely cosmetic.

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from Spicyhorse

Well, as was mentioned in another comment on the topic... it would be a MAJOR change to the core design of the economy. We're going to observe the game for a few weeks post-launch, then return to this idea if it feels necessary.

Under rating threshold (show) New content is reassuring, but i hope some of it makes it in prior to release. The first impression will be a big impact on the game's future. As for Karma, i know the game must be profitable, that is fine. But the way i currently see it, the pace of the game is slowed to a crawl if you do not buy Karma by level 6+. A game that becomes repetitive so soon will not encourage players to make purchases. The game should always be enjoyable, so that players want more out of that experience. Would you consider a stamina system? Instead of forcing players to repeat the same areas over and over, restrict how often they can be done per day, and make the other areas easier to unlock. You can then offer purchasable stamina, so that they may progress sooner. With a system like that, free players won't get bored as easily and will be left wanting more, while paying players will feel more rewarded by their purchase. This is of course just an idea, there are many ways to do this.

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from Spicyhorse

That's odd. You're *asking* for an energy system? All we ever hear is that players HATE energy systems and hate when a game blocks them from playing until a bar recharges or money is put into the game. You want that? We see it in other games on the platform, and those games seem to be really successful - but when we talk about putting this kind of thing into our games - everyone goes crazy and says we're just trying to 'grab money'. So... really?

Under rating threshold (show) As a reply to my previous post for the devs; It's not that this game seems worse than others of this genre, in fact the problem is that it's exactly the same. Besides the art style, it doesn't offer anything to make it stand out, the gameplay feels like something i've already done many times. There needs to be something to break the repetitiveness, like giving the stages different objectives, or different events along the way. Right now, pretty much every stage is "Kill X enemies, reach X location" which gets boring fast, and that's all there is to do. They need something to make them different from each other, like survival areas, escort missions, stages with traps or puzzles along the way, things like that. As for the crystal issue, i like that everything uses the same currency, but i shouldn't have to redo the same stages over and over just so i can afford the next area, having to choose between that and skills.

Thanks again for the more detailed feedback. Expect to see more variety in the missions as we release new content in the future. One great thing about the online/F2P model is that we can continue to deliver new and interesting content for many years to come. As for the Karma question - we'd love to hear your idea for a model which solves your problem while also putting food on our table. We need to eat. Do you ever plan to purchase content in the game - or are you simply looking for an easier way to get to the content for free and faster? If the latter, then it would be interesting to hear why any developer would have incentive to grant that wish. If the former, we'd like to understand how your suggestion might make your support of the game happen more easily.

Under rating threshold (show) I have to say, i originally thought this game showed a lot of promise. Even had it upvoted on Greenlight. However after little over an hour of gameplay, i find myself playing a very bland, restrictive and repetitive grind fest with absolutely nothing new or exciting to keep me interested. I feel as though the sole goal of the game is to farm crystals by repeating the same few tedious levels you've unlocked, which all feel like just longer versions of each other to begin with. But then you can just directly buy crystals anyway. The music and art style is very pleasing, but overall, i'm sorry to say this is a very disappointing first impression.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. It's interesting to hear a negative one when 99% of what we're hearing is positive. Are you a fan of other games in this genre? Is there a reason you feel those are more appealing and this is less so? Would love to hear your feedback.

Hey there. Thanks for calling us insane and stupid! That's the sort of healthy communication we strive for in our relationship with players. Under rating threshold (show) I'm having (what I think is) server lag. My computer runs all the animations great, but a lot of times my character is just hitting the enemies but isn't hurting them and the enemies keep walking around. After 5-10 seconds, half of the enemies are dead and I fight the rest. Opening containers and picking up items is very annoying because of this also. Great game though!
