Under rating threshold (show) I just discovered that our Minion is @, the player from the original Rogue. And the rogue you use here is the widow. I used a scroll of identify on the minion to check this. So yea, @ died and he is back as a skeleton.

Under rating threshold (show) the minion should only attempt to lead in horizontal directions, and should NOT choose to go up or down ladders or pits unless you lead him there or you're separated and it's a quicker way to get back to you. also, for combat reasons, he should attempt to get on the same level as you immediately if you're on a higher level, even if you have to stand together on the same square of the map, and if he's above you he should attempt to get Directly above you and Then jump down to your level, so that if you're fighting an enemy he'll stun it. of course, pathfinding should override these rules if he's separated by more than about 4-8 squares and there isn't a line of sight to you (meaning he's separated and his knife throw won't connect with an enemy) or he's more than one platform above you, in which case the stun advantage isn't as valuable as getting back to you.

Under rating threshold (show) I'm a bespectacled werewolf with a stolen amulet of Yendor, my minion finally came out of the walls and now is a screaming scythe-waving blood fountain in a bubble of magic, I have no idea what the end boss looks like now or where it went, there's a headless corpse roaming the bottom of the level perpetually leaving a trail of gore, and there's an army of red horrors atomizing all the monsters. I'm afraid to blink.

Under rating threshold (show) Monsters only quicken when hit with an XP rune. most of the time that kills you. Or if you're lucky you survive but the monster's level is higher and it gets a sudden boost of Haste. The Lightning weapon doesn't cause quicken when hitting enemies unless it's enchanted with the "?" (Chaos) rune.

Under rating threshold (show) You can't set a hotkey for the map, but you can set one for a quest? O_o And all it does is go to that quest in the menu but doesn't open the menu. So a map hotkey would require you to open the menu anyways it seems, because the map isn't a window in and of itself as far as I can tell, it's just part of the menu. So, yeah, a separate map that's accessible from a hotkey would be great. :)

Under rating threshold (show) If you back out of the weapon or armor lists with the cursor still on a cursed item, you cannot drop runes/hearts.

Under rating threshold (show) Jiberish001: Looks like Heal Rune does heal enemies on weapons. And Stun/Bleed Rune on armor will stun/bleed you randomly for small amounts. It's very equal magic.

Under rating threshold (show) Very fun! I remember the classic rogue but playing it as a sidescroller just makes it even better! I played this with my brother over and over again and we cant put it down! We had some fun times using the bleed rune on eachother , very fun to control minion and rogue at the same time.

Under rating threshold (show) @The_Anonymus: You're right, the lightning weapon doesn't activate a quickening when hitting an enemy. I didn't test this yesterday because I thought I might lose the bolt if I threw it but, today I found that it can be reused as a throwing weapon and it shoots lightning as it flies through the air. It's awesome. :) However now I'm scared for enemies wielding a lightning bolt. lol... :(

Under rating threshold (show) The game should save just before you go home. I was told I couldn't take items, so I figured there would be more game play later. So I dumped all my items only to find that the last save was before that, so I wasn't able to take my good stuff to the post game.

Under rating threshold (show) Armor was the first thing I polymorphed. At first I thought it only changed the item's sprite because the item's name doesn't change. You have to check the description to see what it morphs into. I was right about sprites swapping when you're both wearing the "_" invisible armor.

Under rating threshold (show) I LOVE this game! It includes one of the BEST menu systems i have ever seen in a video game. It's the most fun roguelike ive ever played, if not the most intricate and varied (that honor goes to Nethack). I wish the gods would quit turning me into things when i angered them XD my favourite moment was when i defeated a horde of trolls with some runes of bleed. While wearing a horde of bees as armour :D the setting and them and even the graphics are awesome and set the game apart.

Under rating threshold (show) I have strong reason to believe that gear findings are directly related to your level. This also applies to polymorphing. For instance, polymorphing a weapon at level 1 will only result in either a knife or a gauntlet.

Under rating threshold (show) enchanting a portal rune to a weapon or armor opens a doorway to a small pocket dungeon with certain enchanted items. eating a portal rune opens a portal to overworld that carries over in case you die so you can go back to that level. feeding your minion a portal rune opens a door to the underworld where you can steal death's scythe.

Under rating threshold (show) I'll need to stockpile and double-check rune effects now that I know the overworld trick. Undead on weapons looks like it might heal your minion through kill/"sacrifices". Not what I'd expect....

Under rating threshold (show) very addictive game, but the minion AI is probably the most annoying part of it. he constantly dives down pits when we walk over them, and sometimes sits on a higher platform while i fight an enemy below. the pit problem is exacerbated by the fact that he sometimes walks in front of you, which can be useful if you're low on health, but also leads to more wandering and falling into pits on his part. he also has problems with pathfinding when he's separated, mostly because he doesn't treat walls that dissolve when you walk into them as solid, so he falls into pits and is trapped by walls/floor tiles that lead down the pit or to a ladder. i know that these problems can sometimes be solved by summoning the minion back, but he can sometimes go right back to where he was, into a pit or up a ladder. also, these problems occasionally happen when there's an enemy in sight, and that wastes valuable knife-throwing or bow-shooting seconds.
