Oh, when Hans said he wanted to make everyone look the same, I thought he was going to use a knife to take their faces off.

Good game, but the imagery at the ending was a bit muddled. When he "flies" he looks like he's falling, so it took me a while to realize he was actually meant to be flying and not committing suicide.
The final scene is also kind of confusing, I have no idea what that was meant to be. Everything is grey, he's trapped by barbed wire and the girls are still ignoring him. To be honest the design there is so bleak that for a second I genuinely thought "Holy shit, they're actually in a concentration camp." It really clashes with the message of the game as I understood it - the only thing I can think of is that it was a flashback or it symbolizes how outside his fantasy world his epiphany is worthless. Like I said, bleak.
Don't get me wrong, it's a great game and the actual mechanics are good, which is the number one concern with a game. I just felt like the story lost it a bit towards the end.
I understand how you feel about the ending. If you're curious where I was trying to go with it, press Extras! Other than that, thanks for the nice and thoughtful comment! :)

Um...what? Seriously, I *tried* to get this, but it's pretty muddled (other than the obvious stuff...don't judge by appearances, know when to let go, there's plenty of fish in the sea, etc.). Heck, if the biggest problem *I* faced in high school was an unrequited crush, I would've been thrilled. As it is, we're left with a mediocre platformer with a preachy message...or rather, it *would* be preachy if it were more coherent. It'd be better if Hans' thought processes played out in the platform elements, like The Company of Myself did. As it is, the message (such as it was) didn't really sink in for me...I thought, "Wow, weird trip. At least nobody died." Meh. 2/5
the game is about the mindset a boy can get in when dealing with puberty. not every boy lives stuff like this but even if the only problem Hans is having was a crush, this game is not about calling for sympathy, I was actually trying to explore the mindset I had when I was little. Thanks for playing!

So was the message "Hope she doesn't remember that you took charge of her body without consent"? Because that's more than a little rape-narrative, don't you think?

The message I got from that game was that Hans really was a 80/90's Gamer Kid and the girl Hans chased the whole time was not only his secret love, but also an image for his unreachable dreams and his life that is running away.
Over time he looses the connection to the real world and hides in his imagination where everything was easy he was young and he was "equal", not seperated from others. He ran back to his childhood by playing his beloved games, with doors shut, never going out or trying to get over his problems. Erasing more and more memories old life. Also erasing the memories of the most beautifull girl he ever saw and even hadn't known her name.
At the moment he realized that he whould lose himself, he was frightened getting back to his "old life". It took all his brave to make the jump into society again and opening the door felt like free falling. He reached rock bottom, still ugly, still introvert. But at the end only seeing her again was relevant. The cheerleader.

Amazing game, I played the first minute thinking that I would just drop it at the next door but I just couldn't go without finishing it, it became really interesting at the end. Well designed, well written and well thought, thanks a lot for this gem (yeah, it trully is one imo) !

reminded me a lot of In the Company of Myself, chases a girl, loses a girl and has to move on, story line was repeated. However, this game was a little too easy as I beat it rather quickly, wish it could have taken a little more time.

Loved the game. I think it's really good. I've never played a game like it. It's really cool. (And if she didn't like him enough to go out with him when he was ugly, screw her! She's not worth it!
