People are saying that this game is all philosophical; giving their own interpretations and everything. But it's not open for interpretation really...it's the story of Orpheus and Eurydice.

:) The Fact That He Took His Mind To A Place Where He Knows His Love One Is Still With Him And Will Always Be, The Fact He Couldn't Turn Back Because She Was The Past And That He Will Never See Her Again But She Will Always Be In His Heart Forever And Never Forgotten <3

we rarely ever get a sad story and when we do it is not really sad.but this one is sad even if you hate it this story almost brings tears to your eyes.

Orpheus was a skilled minstrel who was to marry Eurydice when she suddenly died. So he traveled into the underworld and convinced Hades with his music to let her go. Hades agreed on the condition that Orpheus could never look at Eurydice-who would follow behind him-until he was out of the underworld.
Orpheus and Eurydice began their travel above, but Orpheus began to fear that he was tricked. So when they were close, he looked behind him and saw his love before she returned to the underworld - hope that clarifies the story a bit ^-^

It's the story of Orpheus. Going to the underworld to save his love and not being able to look back to see if she is actually behind him.

u ppl are pessimistic. i think the guy in front of the grave is an entirely different person, and they both go to heaven

with the final boss dont bother with the spiders just stay off the floor, and u can shoot him twice if u get him right when the platform appears and then once again as it dissapears jump off and shoot

isnt there a greek fable about a man who descends into hades for his loved 1 but was unfaithful and turned around so his loved 1s spirit dissapeared?

I don't mean to bad mouth the game here.
I'm sorry but i have to say this... This game is wonderful but its not his ORIGINAL IDEA. Well the story isn't anyway. The game was wonderful 5/5. Not 4/5. nothing less then 5/5. The game is based of ORPHEUS AND THE UNDERWORLD. I DONT mean to hurt the game. Two endings i would have liked better.
1. The person at the grave turns around and sees them. Then the girl vanishes. Then both of the boys vanish too.
2. The person at the grave at the end isn't there. The player walks up to the grave and turns around. Instead of making the gasp noise and depixelating the girl simply isnt there. Very sad.

I wouldn't cry if there was a progress meter, so I could know how much more of this pink crap I have to muster before I get the medium badge... Oh my god, 2009 most gloomy game.

This game is supposedly based on a Greek Myth story. and mans loved one dies, he is then visited by a spirtit saying she was killed unfairly, and he has a chance to save her, he must travel into the underworld, find her sould, then exit the underworld without looking back to see if she was still there. at the end of the story, he gets to the exit, then he cant take the pressure and he looks back, and her sould is lost forever.

This game went deep into my heart. To not having the ability to look at your loved one must be heart-braking, and then discover that it was all a dream made up of your longing to the person you so desperatly need... Real sad and beutiful. 5/5 and fav

Very simple concept, very simple execution, but it all fits really well and the atmosphere was amazing for such a game. It gave me the same feeling I had when playing Ghouls 'n Ghosts as a child. I really wish we'd see more games like this around. Beautiful ending as well.

tip for the last boss, if you fire a little bit after u fall of the previous screen you hit him on the way down, then you can jump up when the upper platform is about to dissapear and hit him twice asap, if there is two spiders on the ground you have to stay on the platforms, hope this helps so you all get to see the ending
