The bosses are perhaps a bit too difficult. (Philosophical games can't be appreciated as well if their difficulty scares away half the audience before they can see the whole story.) But the game is otherwise brilliant. 4/5

Regardless of the artsiness (which is really just a video-game retelling of a classic story), the game has some awesome level design. Terry's a master at designing a level around a simple concept.

Beautiful. I see this game strongly resembles Another World! It lets me feel the same gloomy, yet intriguing atmosphere of that old graphic adventure...

For some reason, I've always really liked simplistic platformers. Something about them is just very enjoyable, probably partly because a lot of the story and characters can easily be substituted in.

Very simple concept, very simple execution, but it all fits really well and the atmosphere was amazing for such a game. It gave me the same feeling I had when playing Ghouls 'n Ghosts as a child. I really wish we'd see more games like this around. Beautiful ending as well.

Right about now I'm tempted to rip off the D button from my keyboard, considering I just beat a room I was stuck on for 30 minutes, then hit the D button on accident D:

tintaglia- If you've ever played 'the company of myself' you know of the sad story-line which, pretty much, is what makes the game so brilliant.
This game was just like that one. Depressing story line, walking, jumping and avoiding when needed. Just this one had a bit of killing too.
The 'depressing' graphics is another reason why I love this game. Graphics don't make a game good, the story and actions do. In my opinion, I'd rather playing this over COD. Too much COD gets so boring. It has nothing new, no story. Just pure killing.

srry for double commenting - me down if you want i just had to agree with gasman86 but i think you left one key item out the whole mentality of dont look back was strongly represented by the girl losing her soul everytime you pressed the back key once again sorry for double commenting!

Another game that proves videogames can be beautiful, and yet again it is not one with technically detailed or enthralling graphics. If only more mainstream game designers could use this as a model.
Bravo yet again to Kongregate for using badges to draw attention to this type of game, even when it doesn't get as high user ratings as more "complex" games.

I have to say, the snakes were the scariest things in the whole game. They move like TWICE as fast as all the other monster things and don't even die when you shoot them...well maybe they do after a couple hits but I wasn't about to stick around to check

Good game. Unless there is something I am missing, though, it should not be possible for someone to have the medium badge without the easy one- which is the position I'm in. There's more to life than badges, though, I suppose.

To kill the dog, you need to stand right next to the forcefield so that he leaps into it and bounces back. You may then shoot him in the back. During the last bit of life he has, he will not leap anymore, and thusly, you need to jump over him rather than him jumping over you.

how to beat the dog... 1) let him jump then go under him while he is in the air, shoot his butt 2) let him jump over you again and shoot his butt 3) jump over him when he charges and shoot his butt.

right when you think defeating the god of the underworld was going to be the hard part of your day... the title of the game starts to make since.

@kamil13 To beat Cerberus (the first boss), you have to hit him 3 times in the rear. The first two times, quickly walk under him when he jumps to avoid him, then quickly turn and shoot. The last time, he does low jumps, so jump over him and shoot.

Jeez, if this guy is good enough to kill a freakin' demon, then why isn't he smart enough to WALK BACKWARDS! Great game.
