I have to say, the snakes were the scariest things in the whole game. They move like TWICE as fast as all the other monster things and don't even die when you shoot them...well maybe they do after a couple hits but I wasn't about to stick around to check

My way of viewing this is sort of him going through his depression, manifest by these monsters. First he is confused, and he can't really believe she's gone. Then he's angry, slaying monsters. When he finds her, he's in denial, believing he can get her back. The "don't look back" part is two things: him blaming himself for her death, and him believing that if he does everything right, he can get her back. Great game, mny shades of meaning, 5/5.

The first time I saw Cerberus I remembered the myth and I was all "Hello doggu! Can I sing for you?". And the doggy tore me to pieces.
Overall this is a wonderful game, with a great atmosphere, and it manages to be hard without being too frustrating, despite involving lot of deaths. 5/5

really a great game. ive always loved greek mythology and this game really gets one of the philosophically deepest stories into a game that can take up a big part of the modern games. the only thing i didnt understand is why kongregate thought completing this game was "medium". some of the acrobatic parts with her spirit following you are real harsh and the fight with the devil was REALLY hard.

greek mythology is just plain fascinating. you made part of it into a very atmospheric game (the rain and the scream when she dies gives me the creeps) with a great ending. though I felt some keyboard delay which made some of the puzzles/boss fights unnecessarily hard.

One of the best games I've ever played. I loved the soundtrack, the graphics took me back to when I first starting gaming. 5 stars and favorited, very well done, I thank you for this experience.

I think I know the meaning. When the guy fell off the cliff, he died without knowing and he's soul left the world because it finally found his love one to go with him to heaven. Everyone is saying it's sad because you are looking at it the wrong way. Him and his wife went to heaven because they're together and the guy at the end could be his brother. Think outside the box :D + rate if you think this is true

I got a message from that game. When we lose someone important to us we yearn for them and would do anything to get them back. We imagine if they were still alive if life would be better. This character in this game proves that he hopes for her greatly, he goes through so much suffering just to bring the one he loves.

I think he brought the soul back to rest in peace. maybe his spirit travelled, not his body. and he did that so that she could rest..
it's beautifull... I'm crying...

Good game. Unless there is something I am missing, though, it should not be possible for someone to have the medium badge without the easy one- which is the position I'm in. There's more to life than badges, though, I suppose.

Awesome! Just awesome! :>
I really, really like the atmosphere of the game and it's retro-style, that just FITS!
It's so good! :)
And the background relating to Orpheus and Eurydike is so good.
But... the music is so sad :'(
Good Job, Mr. Cavanagh!
I already found VVVVVV amazing (which came afterwards :D), but i like this too :3

This is one of the most thought provoking games on kongregate. Along with loved, this game should get its own category. Also i liked the Orpheus theme, except for the gun and one headed cerberus, it pretty much follows the storyline of Orpheus. Great game, 5/5 and favorite.

In the Greek Version, Orpheus was a beautiful singer and lyre player. When his love, the nymph Eurydice, died, he went to Hades (underworld) to convince Hades (the God of the underworld) to give Eurydice back. Hades couldn't resist the music. He promised Orpheus Eurydice back, but only if he could walk all the way back without looking back once. He managed to get back to the gates of the underworld, but just before going trough, he wanted to make sure she was still following him, and looked back... and she was lost. He tried to go back for her, but this time Cerberus didn't forsake the gate and didn't let him through. Without Eurydice, Orpheus didn't want to go on living The Maenaden, female followers of Dionysos, loved his music and when he didn't play music anymore, they ripped him into pieces. His soul went to the underworld, and he was together with Eurydice again in the afterlive.
