I'm gunna do something most players aren't able to do: Admit how great this game is despite my being terrible at it, lol. 4/5 (Also, I agree with the minimap comments. Would have been very helpful.)

+1 star for playability
+1 star for innovative upgrade system
+1 star for nostalgia
-1 star for sound and music!!!
Total score: 4/5
This would have been a hit as a commercial game back in the 90es!

Frikkin awesome. I was a heavy pole position player back in the day and you perfectly captured that genre and blew it away. Great work.

3. Expand acceleration/braking/steering options. For example, using the numeric keypad, 5|8|/ could be increasing amounts of acceleration, 2|0 increasing braking, and 7|4|1 & 9|6|3 increasing left/right steering. A similar setup can be used for W|A|S|D.
4. Create a set of sprites that are at a lower angle. (Cars off to the side look like they are doing wheelies.) Alternatively, if that would increase memory requirements too much, make up each car from a series of separate sprites, with X|Y|Z offsets used to set the angles.

Here are some suggestions:
1. Have a 'RearViewViewable' variable array linked to the track position, like for the forward view. Each item in the array contains the number of previous positions that can be 'seen'. Other cars (behind and in front) show up on the line at the top of the screen in their position, and an indicator shows up at the bottom with where they are horizontally behind you. The width of the indicator should vary by distance, so someone right behind you will be full width.
2. Have an indicator hovering above the entrance to the next 'visible' corner, indicating the sharpness of the corner. That will give drivers enough info on the track layout without needing a minimap, which would be distracting anyway.

Do you want to upgrade your licence? NO Do you want to upgrade your car? NO!! I KNOW WHEN I SHOULD & SHOULD STOP ASKING

The only things I think they should add are minimap, ability to name your driver, and customize the paint job on your car. Other than that, it's excellent.

Imo, the description is misleading. It says the game is "The ultimate Flash Formula 1 challenge." but it doesn't even use the actual Formula 1 circuits. (Albert Park/Australia, Silverstone/UK for example)
It really made me look forward to Japan, Suzuka Circuit would've been pretty neat.

after my pervious post i see that alot of people are comgratulating the developer on making a new game, just so you all know this is indeed a remake of a gameboy game, not that thats a bad thing i just dont think the dev deservs all the credit :p

As always, a quality game from you guys. I'm really impressed with the variety of genres you delve into, it takes some you know what to not just find a formula that works (of which you guys have had many) and ride it till the cows come home. That being said, toss a minimap and indicate the other cars' positions and you've got a near perfect game for what you are looking to do here.

HOO RAW! OLD ASS GAMES FTW! im not sure if this is for the nes or the gameboy pocket but its for one of them and this game is awsome, thanks for taking the time to remake it :D keep this comment alive if you nerdgasmed :P

Seems like an exercise in repeating tracks too to get upgrades which is kind of frustrating. IRL, there are classes of race cars to prevent overperformers from squandering people with less resources. Basically, all you gotta do to win this is keep playing until your car hits God Mode.

Not sure why there's customization. Increases in handling don't still can't make hairpin turns even at max angles of attack.

Overall I liked it. I do have a couple of significant complaints though.
My controls seem to stick a lot. At first I thought it was my keyboard, but I have played this now on multiple computers with the same problem. Obviously, in a game like this you need crisp controls.
My bigger complaint though is what happens when you make contact with another car. I can certainly understand that if you bump into the back of a car you will slow down and he may be bumped forward some. However, this also happens when we make side to side contact. I am slowed while they are sped up?! Once, I was hit from behind (accelerating after a crash caused by sticky controls). It slowed me to a crawl and the car that hit me from behind was launched forward. I call foul.

Awesome Game. Only comment is that the growing list of 80000's in the high scores means the high scores are kinda meaningless. What about an aggregate score of all 8 levels?
