I love how if you get Elementalism high enough, monsters that are supposed to be resistant to your element actually get weaker.

5 stars!
Is it just me, or did the colors used to denote critter element just get a lot better. I don't have to squint to tell the difference between energy and earth any more.
Feature request: Make a character's icon flash if they have skill points to spend. Its kind of annoying to click through all of the characters I just used looking for skill points, and sometimes I forget

When trying to pick an element for a map you're going to use first look at: 1) Their elements. Always try picking the most frequent weakness as your element, if that's not possible 2) then look at the final waves' weaknesses. The final 5 waves will do, but also always look at 3) The bosses' weaknesses. Even if only the bosses are a different element, make sure you DO NOT add their strengths to your deck. ( + if you think this helped)

Nice game, just two little things:
- BALANCE! Why don't I need any melee units? Why are there no Magic/Ranged-immune units? Why does every skillpoint cost the same regardless if its the 1st in Logistics or the 17th in Ranged? I guess every hero looks the same: 20 points in ranged/magic
- INTERFACE! It's incredibly repetitive after a while, clicking each unit, clicking skills, clicking the +Damage. Why isn't the skilltree on the first page at least? Why isn't there a continuous combat button to get rid of some more repetitive clicking? Why don't I see the strenght of the monsters in the mission bar? I select my heroes based on the strenght (and absorbs) of the monsters not the weaknesses.
A little bit more listening to your users would go a long way into making this game very memorable.

Protector is the one game on Kongregate that I will play regardless of whether or not it has achievements. I love you Undefined.

Love this game. 5/5 Everything was great though I really would like an auto upgrad button cos when you get to large maps with waves of 25+, it just becomes so tiring to upgrade each unit.

Also another thing I seem to have found useful is to have your third hero more like a benefit mule, lives and paving cost are global, if you're on the skaran quests you have 1 Life, have your mule pick up some extra lives on his/her items.

Spellsword seems to be the only melee unit worth looking at, and even then you're only going to be placing one or two on *some* maps, although melee doesn't hit flying, spellsword is the only unit that appears to have a snowballing feature, and it's got a pretty high % On it too.
Set up your spellsword behind a strong caster and try to make the unit arrive at him with low HP, if he's getting kills you want to upgrade your siphon to max, if your hero has a lot of swordplay bonuses on it, he should be one-hitting most things after that and will continuously grow in strength, perhaps the only downfall is that he is melee in the first place, and if you're like me you're using him from quickfire's units, so he'll be fire based, also of note is that he can bring a debuff too, further increasing damage from all sources, a really nice unit.

The inventory becomes very unwieldy after a while, it would be good if you could search by modifiers such as ranged combat, logistics etc and see immediately which item you have has the best stats for your needs.

All I can do is keep making progress via copious amounts of mission failure. And yet I've been playing for hours. 3/5

Question about items like +1%gold and +1% loot. In order to get those bonuses, do you need to have the hero active during the wave, or do you just have to have him on the quest in general?

You can get items that switch your heroes element via the Explorer's Camp. Hire Jones, and hope you get lucky. Currently these items still work, however it may be a bug based on undefined's (the developer) previous comment.

I've enjoyed all of the Protector games. There is only one constant that is very annoying, for some reason many of the buttons. When they are clicked there is a high pitched squeak that is very irritating. Aside from that, they are very fun games.

I got a scroll to change elemental strength (consumable) but when I equip it it does not get consumed and the elemental strength does not change.

When upgrade window is open, would be cool be able to change units. Its annoying when you have 10 units to upgrade and you have to close upgrade window, click next unit, open upgrade window, upgrade and so on...

First I thought melee units would be ok, then I just got mobbed by tonnes of flying units.
Then when I try ranged, they were too weak, so I had enough of the game's shenanigans and went pure ranged, if you boost your wisdom up to 10, and your Advisor Gordon's wisdom to 10, Then stack as much ranged on them as possible (the damage stacking on this game is high) then when you'll notice those wimpy crossbowmen hurt, and they start to hurt for a lot, when they've got a 300% Increased damage on them, and have the added bonus of being able to slow, put a slow at the front, the ranger behind him will be the middle DPS build, if you're expecting armour make him an armour crossbowmen, front what I can see this build is pretty much destroying boards so far, even against strong physically immune monsters (because you can penetrate a tonne of armour anyway).

I like defense games, but I hate Protector, too many statistics and too random. The fact that you need a certain type of power to be able to manage a level at all and have no way of making sure you have it at your disposal is stupid and frustrating. I tried every part of the series, and it always stays the same problem. I'm not willing to spend 4768 hours to master a browser game. If you don't want casual gamers to enjoy your work, you did a great job, though!

@nefenjo On the map, click a Storyline flag. One the left of the screen will be a "offered by" message. You are looking for the one that says "Legion of Tyria" under that. (It's the blue flags). if you can't finish one, you can replay others until you get stronger...

The problem with this game is that there are too many stats! I find myself ovrwhelmed and hence cannot truly enjoy the game

"There won't be many who would refuse to offer a contract to someone else over you." == Most people will hire someone else, not me!! After I defeated the great evil, this is how you repay me? Ungrateful people of Arkandia!

@Falcion Oh! I see now. Thanks so much! One last question... What exactly is debuffing? This game tends to assume that you've played the previous four versions, which I haven't... Only the one that had the badge of the day sometime in the past week or two. And not enough to completely get the hang of it then, either.

really Kong... only ONE achievement... come one, its a Protector game, the fact that it has Protector on it should deserve more than just one achievement. (i know you probably have some other way of choosing which games have achievements and which dont so i dont want to sound bad, its just that this game is flibben awesome and should have more achievements)

lols, i just beat the level where you fight the Injured Corrupter after i beat the Gentlemen faction's quest line where you fight the Corrupter and Old Corrupter, and i got and in-game message about the injured one but not about the 2 stronger ones (all 3 i pwned with the lightening mage lady you start off with)

@nefenjo you increase leadership by putting points into it under skills. You equip items by going under Heroes and then clicking the hero you intend to put the item on, then click the item and click the hero's inventory. If you look at the upper left corner of the info screen that pops up when you click a flag, it will say what faction is giving the quest, and storyline quests are pretty clearly marked.

Ok, so I'm pretty new to this game, and I'm quite confused. When hiring new heroes, I have a "Leadership Low" message - how do I increase my leadership? I've won a few missions since then, but I still can't hire the new hero.
Also, items. How do you use them? I can click on them to sell them at the store, but I don't see anywhere to equip them to anyone.
Apparently, there are numerous storylines. How do you tell which is which before completing the mission? I see there are lots of different colors, but there's no sort of legend/key to know which represents which. If I'm going for this Tyrian storyline, what am I going for, exactly? (Besides a lot of frustration)
Any other helpful advice? I've gleaned that archers are more practical than melee units, and that Defender Jamison pwns. (who, coincidentally, is the hero whom I can't hire because of low leadership)
