I find it kinda funny that you can get the medium badge before getting the easy one, and being good enough means that you have to voluntarily lose to get it.

Dude... I love this game. Challenging gameplay that often requires strategy, not to mention pretty awesome in-game music. Kudos.

@Marvaddin - This is a very solid strategy, but there is more to it than just hand-picking certain cuties to farm and to save up. When it comes down to later rounds, killing individual cuties of ANY type is very detrimental to your survivability. Even if you are killing a red cutie, you are still taking 1 turn and subtracting 1 health in exchange for 1 health back. Avoid killing individual cuties by taking the time to thoroughly plot out your path so that you can move along the edge of small groups but still be able to get to a clod of red cuties without wasting health.

Protips: 1) Quit and restart until you have a good layout. Eggs hatch extremely quickly in the beginning, so that's the best opportunity to grab gold eggs. 2) Try to stick close to the edge. Cutting across the middle breaks up groups, which means less golden eggs. 3) You can move/use a skill while the collected cutie "souls" float to their respective locations. This means free moves (red), or using a skill just in time to recharge it. ... Using these strategies upped my average score from ~100k to ~140k and netted me a high score of 210k. :D

Been playing this game on and off for almost 4 years now. Still loving it. This is one of those rare gems that totally earned my 5 stars.

I won 5 level mode because I saw a big group of yellows and used transform on them. They turned to red, so I used harvest and got 42 health.

Extending on Marvaddin's and plaplante's ideas, I have additional tips that allowed me to get 100k when eggs took 13 turns to hatch. 1, you dont have to use vampiric touch on blackies- any color will do. Because of this, avoid either blue or black, whichever is more common. 2, it is fine to get singles or doubles of your currently avoided color only if that color spell needs charging. 3, if you are desperate, you dont need to use transform before you use vampiric touch, nor do you need to go after the largest group. 4, use the black spells to go after golden eggs. When you kill a group that takes up over 2/3 of the level, you want to have as much time before the next hatch as possible, since odds are 3+ golden eggs will appear. 5, use vampiric touch as soon as possible unless you have over 25 health or you will inevitably create a yellow shortage.

I agree with most of the tips up here, but I think everyone's underestimating black powers. If you're playing it right, you should be turning colors and accumulating big groups of cuties, which will give you lots of golden eggs. Use the black powers to collect those golden eggs before they disappear. I aim to have Fire Blast, Transform, Vampiric Touch, and Harvest all up at the same time. I get a big group of cuties & Transform. If they turn red, use Harvest to get twice as many. If not, use Vampiric Touch. Then you'll have golden eggs, and I use Fire Blast to get them from a distance. That's how I beat the hard badge.

@thegreenrobby
God damnit! Didnt your mother ever tell you the grim reaper dosent have a soul? He stuck it in a big box in his basement like all the ones he takes from us. This is common knowledge.

Strategy games don't usually hold my attention for too long. At first, this seemed impossible and I wasn't even going to put much effort into getting the Xenocutia badge. However, the more I played, the more I found that I was actually getting into it. Eventually, I won the badge without even really keeping track of the score. It was quite satisfying too :) Only complaint: needs more achievements!

So, what do you need to do to get the middle badge? I've won 5-level mode 4 times now, no badge. Normally I'd assume that Kongregate just failed to give me a badge, but the "5-level mode" button in the opening screen has only has one disc lit up, which makes me think that there's something else I need to do to get the badge. Any ideas?
