Wonderful game. It's fast and fun to play, with a lot of good strategy elements.
Please fix the AI on normal mode. It's bad and broken and nowhere near as fun as hard mode. All three opponents race towards the player, throwing all their forces into the attack. They only fight each other if they run into one another on their way to the player.

I made an account just so I could share this with others. Download the .swf file (I found a link on dogva.com, specifically https://dovga.com/game/3788/hex-empire) and then use a Flash Player of your choice to play it. I will try porting this game to HTML5 and see if it works.

If you find a version that is actually running, please let us know which configuration you use (browser version, extencions,...). All versions I found are unplayable, for you cannot see the land and sea.

I've got supernova swf enabler on chrome (mac), but all it does is play the ad then tell me I need an .swf enabler. How do you make it actually run the game?

Supernova player works with all the one asset games that I tested but it seems to be unable to play this one, at least for the moment, but it might be just for me.
If you are looking for alternatives Flashpoint is able to play it and it sounds like Newgrounds is able as well

It would be great if the creator could rebuild this game with unity. I will miss it terribly once flash is banned forever. Still the best strategy game even in 2021

Don't worry - Hex Empire will still exist at Flashpoint after 'The Purge of Flash'

Really going to miss this game once flash shuts down next month. Even a decade later, I still replay this game all the time and it never gets old.

I like how you can just have a random unit loitering around right in the middle of the enemy's base picking up territory and ports and the AI just doesn't care at all.

@Yeatcheed1938: Conquer cities (they yield armies) and harbours (bonus armies, cross oceans). Create connected land masses. Sometimes it is better to have few strong cities than many weak ones. The harbour boni will be split among your cities. Play on Easy to learn the basics. Re-read the instructions after a few games.

I still don't get how this game works, I read the instructions but the AI seems to spread out further with more armies, and I don't know why they are getting more.

@Tookey76
For Firefox and Chrome I can usually turn flash on by clicking the box that the game would appear in. If this doesn't work you'll be looking for a little grey lego-brick icon to activate Flash somewhere around the address search bar by the padlock. If there isn't an option to turn Flash on in the game window, and if the brick icon is missing, you might try in 'settings' or 'options' in your browser.

While addictive, it's a pretty shit game but what do you expect from strategy flash games. AI always teams up so it's just a matter of picking the right map. Picking a good map = stomp because the AI is extremely dumb, picking the wrong map = unwinnable no matter what (literally). You already know the outcome just from the start based on the map, which makes it kinda boring.

Just to say no matter how "good" this game is the fact ai only focuses on you doesn't make it "hard"...it's extreme laziness...hope net game is way better....

Shocked this game is still good. Lol play this like 2013 look at my feed. It be perfect if AI didn't naturally target human player, use tactics rather than bum rush the capital, better map layouts and even few more colors and modes. An alliance type of mode with say 3 vs 3 would be epic.

not tech savvy, bit of help please. Until recently when I wanted to play Hex I clicked on a padlock icon next to the address bar and chose 'allow flash'. The padlock icon has gone and now just says 'not secure'. I miss Hex and any help would be appreciated

Getting bored? Here's how to keep it interesting:
- May only beat computers all 3 on same turn. fast as possible.
- Beat all computers without taking a city. (Must either take all on same turn, or if accidentally takes city, you can't use any troops from it)
- No treaty challenge
- 99 Challenge: Only allowed to attack when you have 99 of a unit. Otherwise you must only defend.

Another incredibly tough one for Blue.
512741
You have to hope the AI gets stuck at the harbour. then slowly pick it apart. 81 turns.

Incredibly hard as Violet: 239338
They refuse ally.
No cities/harbours nearby.
Just gotta brute force smash red, then run back to defend. Best of luck!

Tookey: On the 10th go?! Apparently your AI is fully functional. (I can't imagine we tried that one before, because it was just a random seed. I've only played a few dozen of these. maybeafewhundred...)

851448 is an interesting map, where each nation has its own thing going for them. Red can quickly expand into several nearby towns, and has a weaker neighbor in Purple. But Purple can tip the scales and conquer Red's prosperous lands if Blue is also pressuring Red. Green is a stronghold surrounded by water and ports, with many towns it can safely hold. They also tend to be pressured by every nation at once, and become the almost exclusive target of the Red/Purple empire. Blue's homelands on the other hand can go almost undisturbed due to their turf being far removed from any of the action. However, they don't have a lot of towns they can easily control, and must be very aggressive into Greenland and the center of the map, where they can stomped if they don't carefully control their aggression. This map has a lot of back and forth, and I've seen every nation become an empire on this map.

Nilep, robot :]
9th or 10th go I think. Unit 1 Sarajevo, has to hang around (collects port to North I think) a bit cos Blue sits on San Marino for a bit but when free you can beat blue from the sea. Other units defense with one collecting ports around the sea near violet.

547106, Nilep, you will be relieved to know i've just failed 3 times :) Will continue later. You sure we haven't played (and eventually beaten) this one before?
