Even today I still play this game. It's still as good as ever. Although the Hex Empire 2 can't be played offline, this is much simpler than the HE2...

Shame HE3 turned out to be pay2play and basically civ5 with only combat and happiness. The dev's just haven't learned we want exactly this with bigger maps, smarter AI options, and map customization.

AI: "Sir there's a big army closing our capital. Should we turn back and go defend it? - Nah. Let's just move on and leave them on their own."

Played this game: LOVED IT
Played Hex2_ didn't work
Played Hex3: didn't like it...
Played this game: over and over and over... years later...

Journal Entry #209.
Despite frequent requests for the enemies surrender, and the ceasefire of 10 troops needlessly throwing themselves on the enemy without inflicting a single casualty, the leader of Violetnam has not given in, despite the incredible loss of morale among the troops.
With 21,681 troops stationed in all hexes not controlled by Violetnam, there lies an impassable boundary between Bluegaria and their eternal rivals. This is a war we SHALL win! http://i.imgur.com/PuuSoBc.png

For anyone who couldn't bother to read the tutorial - you gain morale by winning battles, and capturing cities & ports and lose it by losing battles, cities and ports. A stack can't have more morale than it has troops. If you merge two armies, only manpower goes, not morale. At the end of every turn, every city & capital adds troops. Ports and empty squares increase troops gained in your cities, but won't grow armies themselves. Move full stacks off of cities to get more troops.

Love how this game requires strategic thinking. For example, to successfully invade a country by land or sea you need a good staging point. Else that tank division you sent in won't have backup

THOU ART SO COOL. 5/5 just for that one moment of pure joy I felt after recieving such an out of character message in a strategy game like this.

The music combined with the sound effects and art style (birds chirping while guns fire and the map is bombed to pieces) is one of the scariest things in online gaming. Of course this isn't supposed to be a scary game, which means the developer is given leway to put in some painfully sarcastic comments. Wow.

@santaclaws11 I've been ganged up on more then once. just depends. but was interesting having to split up the 5 moves on 2 fronts. ( one side destoryed another earlyer on then ended up contacting me 1st. just worked out that I was the next logical target.) Had a fight on my hands from the north and east. Prevailed in the end but did get pretty hairy.

a touch more in depth: perhaps a campaign, larger maps, or something like air force bases or jeeps to increase troop movement. 4/5

does anyone else like to mess with the last enemy's capital using unnecessary numbers of troops before finishing them off?

They have/had a second game. It was complete and utter garbage. The gameplay was slow and unfulfilling, the multiplayer was a joke, and barely was reminiscent to this one.

This is the first time when I've seen an army lose full morale for having full morale troops join them. 12/12 army mixing with a 12/12 army makes them lose morale.

Humble graphics, simple, but overwhelmingly addicting. Few games are as entertaining without being to laggy or demanding of people's time. It is a pity though that there isn't a function to play against other players.

lol i was ganged up by all 3 and there were about 10 ports and cities around this small area of wat, (about 5 hexagons) and i owned them, and all the nations started attacking me. first thing i did was send a strike team to one of there capitals and took it. then i just duked it out with the other two until i won. :D 5/5 and favorited
