Great game with super FX however it gets rather old as the only thing that seems to change is more enemys on the field and after awhile I went crosseyed tring to catch all the pickups and dodge the bullets. and again Kudos to everyone who worked on this the FX are some of the best I've seen on any game.

i love this game but think the upgrades start to fade out because i'm on level 9 and have already bought all the upgrades :/

Can I get a better indicator that I'm getting hit? In the giant storm of all this crap its hard to tell if I'm actually dodging anything.

I have to admit, even though the game has a few flaws, you at least are taking the time to go through the posts and listen to them unlike a lot of devs here that I've seen. Kudos to you and I hope to see many games to come from you.

I rarely go back to a game unless I like it, and this game keeps me playing until I've finished everything which is a very good sign =) I changed my initial 3/5 to 4/5 because of how fun this classic shooter is. The only negative thing I find is that when it gets hectic, it becomes hard to see anything, which makes dodging very difficult.

Really nice, old school game but you should consider making the ship more visible through reduction of some graphic explosions (unfortunately because they are good) or add more enhancements for the ship to make it tougher.
yeah lots have people have mentioned this and there is a lot of parameters I can tweak to reduce the amount of fx spawned by exploding enemies so I'll take that into account when I make the next one.

Man, i haven't seen such a good shoot'em up game for a long time ! Congratulations, that was a great job ! 5/5 indeed !

I find more often than not i cannot complete a level just in 1 life. THat if im going into a later level i HAVE to have 3 lives or else im not going to make it to the end. And no i dont suck at these games. Its just that its hard to see all the incoming bullets with the particles everywhere.

Nice topdown shooter, but personally i only felt the last level to be challenging. Even then it wasn't THAT hard (and I suck in these games). But good job anyway!
yeah I may have tended to make it a little too easy. The thing is it's only a small game really so I wouldn't expect people to want to play it over and over again just to get past some really difficult levels. I may not have got the difficulty curve quite right but I'd much rather make a game like this too easy rather than too frustrating.

My biggest problem with the game is that max upgrades seem to matter very little in the higher levels. The magnet has the worst problems where even the top version requires you to be pretty close to the items in order to pick them up, leading to a lot of damage just to get stuff.
thanks for the encouragement: I may well have gone a little overboard with the anarchic visuals but it's really nice to hear someone taking them in the spirit in which they where intended.

@ Kaarchin Its just a genre, some games are more varied than others. People complaining about this is like people saying Halo and Call of Duty are the exact same thing
my thoughts exactly ;) ..... I don't think it's possible for there to be too many retro space-shooters available free-to-play on the web. I'm always trying to find interesting angles on old ideas but in the end if I can just make a fun update of space-invaders then I'm pretty happy with that, (where the operative word is 'fun').

Main problem I'm seeing is that movement with the mouse versus the keyboard is a lot different. Keyboard movement goes a lot slower than moving with your mouse and seems to be really "blocky" for lack of a better term.
yeah I made it for mouse control really. I did put some effort into trying to make the keyboard controls as good as possible, but in the end I think it feels a lot more natural with the mouse - especially when 'throwing' the repulser around.

It'd be nice if there was a period of invulnerability after you lose a life. Otherwise if you fly into a boss it'll instantly destroy you.

Here I was in school, playing the game. (Obviously I'm very bored.) So I see this game and I'm like, "Ok, so what do we have here. Random game. Oh well. I'll play it." I found one problem though: I was enjoying it.

only two complaints:
I. More Upgrades- I'm only on level 5 and I have obtain nearly all the upgrades with minimal grinding (all I need is the final tier expensive ones) Other good (but common) ideas for upgrades if you made a sequel would be HP/armor/double bullet upgrades.
II. Graphic Removal- basically a way to turn of all those explosions and some other animations. This makes the screen less busy (and thus makes dodging bullets easier) and probably solve a few lag issues for some people.
I like the double-bullets idea - haven't heard that one before...armor-upgrades is also a sure thing in the next version, and yeah just general toning down of the explosion fx seems neccessary

Enjoying it greatly, my only concern is that you should have a grace period after losing a life, half a second to a second where you dont take damage so you can get yourself to a safer spot. As it is bad positioning can burn through your entire extra life stockpile faster than you can react.

I like the game overall quite a bit - great graphics and sound - but I feel like the balance could be better. It's fairly easy to get all the upgrades halfway through the game and then you're left to tackle the last few levels without any hope of an advantage. It makes the last level damn near impossible.
yeah I'm sorry about that, it was a bad call on my part - I did it like that thinking it was a good idea, only realising later how stupid it was, by that time the relevant code was buried underneath a whole load of 'mess' which I really didn't want to delve into for fear of breaking something......I won't do it like that again!

while I liked the play control I did not like the fact the the bullets spin just like the coins and are the same shape as the coins I could have avoided a lot more bullets if I didn't think they were coins

not very interesting. doesnt the variety of guns you expect from games like this, doesnt do anything new :/ still, decently fun, great music 3/5

Good top-down bullet hell game with upgrades, but the money becomes useless very quickly as there aren't many upgrades to buy!

It seems to me that the hitbox is a bit big compared to other games in the genre. By level 7 or 8 or so, during the frequent bouts of really heavy fire I have a hard time avoiding bullets even if I see them and want to.

ok got up to level 8 the haze/impact smoke is to heavy to see much of anything game kinda goes down hill at this point.
revising score 3/5

It's very well done. I just want more upgrades. I have 13 bosses and I'm almost done upgraded at level 8. Also, I wish the screen was bigger. I love watching the enemies explode and watching my ship wreak havoc. But the screen thing doesn't take anything away from the game for me.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
really good 4/5, only thing keeping from being a 5/5 is the lag between moving my mouse and the reaction of the game. I move mouse and .5-1.0 secs before ship moves
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I'm a hipster-expert, and getting fully upgraded went a bit too fast compared to the amount of bosses I got left. I'm not gonna fight them because I now got a fully upgraded ship ready to jump. They can just conquer this part of the galaxy for all I care.

i think the magnet is too weak and can be changed. i also think there should be missles that split into tiny missle and sould have tiny helpers like tiny ships that help me in battle.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
please include a low quality option, and a medium one. i rather be able to dodge all the bullets in full speed than be able to see them in all their glory but slow moving and easy to dodge. Otherwise, great game, control scheme, music, stress factor, upgrades and difficulty all fits together nicely.

i need to correct myself : its not unplayable , its unbearable . its a complete mess , the kind of game you don't have fun playing . having the option to upgrade your stuff don't make a game in itself , and in this game , by the middle of the game , all you do is grind to upgrade and hope to survive ... if anyone have a 100% luck skill maxed maybe you can make it trough this complete mess of colors
