Soldiers are so tough in this game. Enemies bomb you, shoot you, slice you, yet you run around and shoot like nothing happened.

Tip for futuristic campaigns: By far the best weapon types are the gauss (rifle and smg) and the splitter (grenades and rifle). The gauss can kill anything in a few hits, and the splitter can take out all of the enemies on the map at once (and yourself if you don't take cover)

KORD is the best weapon if you want to use (make sure you have all weps cheat ON found in the settings) click the LMG icon in the equip section and click 10 times on this button (>) (best i can get)
