On the 'prepare for battle...' screen you can avoid the battle by just right-clicking with your mouse and clicking 'back'. tadaa
And even better: The city is then captured!

Pretty good game but it took me forever to get the medium badge until I looked online. which must be a problem for many people because the medium badge has less people getting it than the hard. I leveled my troops and the 50 lvl ca did not help. But to get the medium badge find a Mysterious weapon of Death just equipping it will give you the badge. Because it give the weapon 0-1000 extra random damage. keep up the good work.

start with the japanese troop, then as soon as possible conquer echigo and then recruit 10 black samurai. and now all u neeed to do to won the hard badge is buy some potions =]

Why is there even a large heal potion anyway? Two scrolls of healing bring your health back up to max, and heal you're troops as well.

Okay, got it -- read through some more of the "Best" comments, and just having a maximum damage over 500 will get the badge. Equipping "unholy" and "mysterious" items seems to do the trick.

Any advice on the medium badge (500-point hit)? I'm rolling through these cities without losing any troops, and have just the Far East Empire to go ... but my maximum hit is only 154 thus far. I'd like to figure out how to up this hitting before I wipe out all the armies ....

i just got a bug my caracter vanisshd from my screen, i was in the palace to conquer cesarrea... then he ran into nowwere and the last living enemie is killing my qhost or what?

Awful Graphics. Awful Gameplay. Extremely repetitive. My Allies were sometimes my worst enemies (it was like I was paying freeze tag with them). This game is not fun at all. Only reason I played is because it's part of the "Best of 2007" Quest. How in the world did this terrible, awful game end up on a "best of" quest?!!!!! Since by the time I got the Medium badge I was now powerful enough to destroy every city, I went ahead and did that to get the hard badge too. At least now I'll never have to play this terrible, awful, boring game ever, ever again for any reason!!!

Grabbed a "mysterious small buckler of death" stats are a little crazy, gives 0-1000 damage, a few other buffs, and some harsh debuffs, best to fight some crappy weak rogues ;)

If not the max possible damage, then find and equip "Greek Fire," an oil throwing weapon(50-200 damage), move around the map until you find a large group of enemies, and throw at the group for a splash damage(damage is at least 50 for each enemy, easy 500 total damage). Hope this helps for the medium badge.

The medium badge doesn't actually need the damage in combat, but instead seems to be based on your max possible damage. For example, I equiped "Mysterious Hunter Bow of Death" and the stats were 5-15, may increase damage by 0-1000 points, and when I exited the inventory, I got the badge with the score saying 1070. I'm not sure, but find and equip a weapon that has a possible damage over 300 to get the badge.

mysterious/ of death buff all round + ranged @ high levels + cities conquered = invulnerability. nuff said. You never miss, you always crit, you deal up to 4K+, and all you have to do is hide behind your troops.

Meh, when you have 16 HP, you tend to not care about what the programmer did: you'll instead care about how much damage you and your troops are doing.
