@chilese - did you start with a bombing run delivering shells FROM the edge around your next expansion level? that's the right distance so you dry it most efficiently, and you need to build another mortar and go around with them before you build your first blaster to clean up the nearest expansion level.

@chilese - i got a little scared a few times during that massacre of blue, too :) did you get to land the city in creeper?

@iMiPi: Tried the 48:37. I didn't even get close before survival kicked in. Had 2 drones and a mortar when Survival hit. I tip my hat sir.

just to make sure you don't mess up in a second after waiting over 20 minutes, as the starting time is nearing, the display will flash the score instead of time and only in the last moment it shows the time when the creeper is already up on your island. make sure to use the pause button fast.

OCEAN CHALLENGE 12/8 - starting time 48:37 - you may not fire until then :)
NOW this will be serious time pressure, I promise :) I tested it. HINT: You have to start with a bombing run. When you fire from your tiny dry land, you will definitely run out of time. Weapons ought to get wet :) BE AWARE OF SURVIVAL MODE AT 60 MINUTES. More rules in my comment from 12/10. Screenshots: http://imgur.com/a/g9LCQ

@kennycjr you have a lot of fun :) yes, that's correct, build up enough energy first with minimal attack. that's generally true for any goal.

12/11 both efforts ended in total green-out first at 18:44. Second attempt I figured I could speed it up by moving odin city onto that western hill and streamlining attack, ended up taking me 20:58. Seems engaging the creep sooner requires more energy than I was aware of. I'm guessing it'd be better to wait for a complete engagement, keep them at bay with mortars, and build as many collectors as possible?

I actually hadn't even noticed, but then my wife has fibro, so I've become well accustomed to just auto-correcting what's not quite said right.

kennycjr: There are several players better than myself: hawk45, carusoo, iMiPi. Just keep practicing and look at every picture posted to learn what was done. I used "lease" instead of "least" in a previous post. My apology.

holy cow, that's some skill involved in floating the city around. got my 12/9 time down to 1:41, or should I just state it as chilese +22?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
kennycjr: You can "float" a SAM, mortar or blaster, although the SAM takes the lease amount of time to build and you don't have to keep feeding it "red" energy pellets. You can land a blaster or mortar in the creeper and they will supply a link to Odin City from a collector and shoot creeper. Excellent questions. Experiment and see what works for you.

True, I hadn't considered even moving Odin City, certainly not keeping it in perpetual motion to connect. As promised, my 12/09 ocean challenge completion http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd44/kennycjr/creeper120914oceanchallenge.jpg

kennycjr: There is a way to get to a third totem that newer players don't yet realize. Odin City not only can move, it can be held in a hover by using a back-and-forth motion. Odin City can reach rather far by connecting it to a SAM (also floating). The SAM connects to a Collector. So Odin City can reach from a dry area collector to a third totem while it is filling the final totem. In addition, on some maps, Odin City can be landed in the blue Creeper for a long time to fill a final totem. I hope this helps. 12/9 used the floating Odin City method, but did not need a floating SAM. So no weapons, just collectors. Give it a shot. This link will show you how Odin City can "reach" totems: https://picasaweb.google.com/chilesej/Artwork#6065667049460417842

replayed 12/9 to see if I could get my time down, got it down to 2:34. I don't how you guys get it any faster, anything else I try that I'd think would make it faster only ends up taking longer.

@chilese i also had some deficit with starting 14 reactors and 3 mortars, but only a bit later on when i started fast expanding my newtork of collectors. i thought 14 reactors, so i'm RICH, so i don't need to look at energy management :) couldn't be more wrong :)

@kennycjr yes, it's possible to finish in about 1 minute on some maps. i think the "score best mission" value is your best ever achievement, not necessarily that from today. they mean by "today" that you did play some map today, but the score doesn't need to be from that map.

@ iMiPi, just took a go at your ocean challenge, took me 53:15 to complete it with my first ever green out. I'm quite pleased that I seem to have done as well with that as you, though sorting that out, and trying out different arrangements in tricky spots added a bit to my time. I'll have a photobucket link up later.
