y2k_bug, I noticed that too when I first started playing. It doesn't affect pros at all, but it really messes things up for beginners. No warning or anything, it just has a secret max time limit of 1 hour.

TIL if you manage to draw out your mission timer to 1 hour, the game completely screws you over by making the emitters absolutely flood the map with a tsunami of creeper.

It's true that the comments are mostly about times, screenshots and strategies or MTarganyen's troll comments. I went back 2 weeks and found that there would have been a total of about 4 or 5 comments (2 of which were questions answered by the speedsters). The comments section would pretty much be a ghost town without the speed rivalries and screenshot URLs. What comments are we keeping from being made or sending to the 2nd page by our posting? Thanks for your inputs. It is nice to see other comments. And you are certainly a regular to this amazing game.

6/21 upgrade: 20% speed, starting simultaneously with 2 collectors, then building south non-stop, and north when enough energy.

6/21 correction: i didn't float the city until the green packets were produced for the last totem, but after that i floated it until the packets travelled.

6/21 - 2:02 @chilese electrons on steroids :) thanks for your tipps! http://imgur.com/a/NUjZT there was a collector in the place where the SAM was floating. i only built the SAM when that collector was almost blown up. i didn't float the city, only the SAM - hard to do (a little diagonally) because there is not much room for movement in that position. it get's diconnected if it moves away a bit, so it has to float in the same position (a LOT of "P" key hitting like turrets syndrome).

6/21 - 2:12 @hawk45 and i sweat blood. i tried a slightly different layout, see the second picture below http://imgur.com/a/aLB4P the gate opens at 2:08 and that's the moment when one of my collectors is blown up. but of course the timer doesn't stop immediately when the gate opens. how did you get 7 seconds below this time... amazing! and RFI? wow.

i loaded the north totem too early and moved too late to the final hovering spot, too. you take the glory, i go to sleep :)

@chilese That's generally an effective way to think about them. One correction: mortars and drones remove any depth of creeper completely dry at least on some area around the target. But I wouldn't use drones on survival mode. They are more effective at targeting a focused area, except when it comes to hitting an extremely narrow target. You need mortars for that. And also mortars are better for spreading depth damage on a larger area, if you want light relief only. Drones are far better if you want heavy bombing on a small area of about the size of green area around 4-5 collectors.

6/21 - 2:08 @iMiPi I always thought of the Mortars and Drones as Volume removers (with potential maximums) and the Blasters as Area removers. Of course, I have not put in the math time as you have. Sort of (Blasters = 1 layer, Mortars = 2 layers, Drones = 3 layers) with a corresponding area at the top level of creeper. Not that this helps with my slower times on the more difficult puzzles.

:) thanks! anyway, i'm checking the size of areas cleaned up by shells of mortars and drones, and... well it's not always the same. somehow maybe it depends on the depth of creeper or the landscape. a good hit of both cleans up dry for a moment the area of a square where you could fully fit the green area produced by a collector. they clean up the full square exactly. but not always. sometimes the cleaned area is much smaller, even less than half of that. they seem to do a better job in deeper creeper. so, my conclusion is: a drone's ammo is way cheaper, but only if you wanna focus the damage on a small area, and only if you wanna use a VERY limited number of weapons obviously, if you want to overkill, the drones are the best choice, BUT both drones or mortars ONLY in combo with blasters for the shallow creeper.

...but i didn't check how much area will be cleaned up by a shell of a morar or a drone shell. it would matter a lot if mortar shells cover more area individually...

it does only cost 24 ammo packets to load the drone, and it fires 15 times. that's less than half the price of ammo for a mortar. the mortar has a 3 load routine. the first full load cotst 30 packets, the second 27 and the third 28. it fires 25 shells in total with the 3 loads (8+8+9). so... mortars are only good when we want to spread the shells across the map. drones ammo is better than half as cheap for bombing focused on a small area.

6/19 - 3:54 RFI http://imgur.com/a/4PZMZ this was my first attempt where i have built, loaded & sent the drone before i built blasters. all previous times with blasters first. the cleanup with the drone seems to help a lot :)

6/19 - 4:07 same layout, just better packet type management. 4 screenshots from the end: http://imgur.com/a/SSKiQ immediately flooded after totems loaded. only 1 sortie of the drone (then deactivated). you'll need some magic skills to get sub 4 :)

How to rek survival mode: Find two points on the map you can put Odin City on, then constantly move the city in the air between the two points = infinite survival
