Under rating threshold (show) Nearing the end of a mission, I look at the way I have networked my collectors across the map, and how I have inched my way from one edge to the other, covering everything in my wake, destroying the creeper in my way, and I realise, the creeper and I, we aren't so different

Indeed.... This observation/philosophy is an underlying theme in the upcoming game 3. You can see what I mean in some of the alpha screen shots at my blog ( knucklecracker.com/blog )

Under rating threshold (show) Don't know what parameters are currently variable, but since a new map is generated daily, it would be neat if they occasionally had an extra emitter or two, or slightly higher growth rate. A bit of an occasional challenge for the regulars.

Under rating threshold (show) I enjoy playing strategy games and such. I dislike tower defense games, because the enemy is on a controlled path, but games like this are amazing. It feels so simple, but you just can't stop playing. Even when you're losing, you just want to fight again. It's a simple game, but amazingly addicting. I have no words to describe how happy I am that this game exists, I wish I could rate higher than 5/5.

Under rating threshold (show) bleistift2 - You create a deficit when you deplete more energy than you collect. In your scenario with an 80 deficit, at some point you were using more energy than you were creating and got a bit behind. Your network still works because you are collecting 10.1 energy, but it will not work efficiently until the deficit it at 0 again. And if you are collecting 10.1 and using 10.0 that will take awhile. When I'm in that situation I try to find items that I can turn off until the deficit is at zero again. The network always works better when you have extra energy to use. This is the way I understand it at least.

Under rating threshold (show) For those of you who keep getting surprised at your "total time played" just remember that if click "survival!" it automatically advances your game to the 1 hour mark, which will be what is recorded in your total time statistic. Which means that its really easy to inflate that stat on accident.

Under rating threshold (show) @Kazan_Epic The OC can't send out any more than 32 packets per second - deficit is the number of packets that have been requested that have not yet been sent. Any energy collection above +32 does essentially nothing (apparently the last time I said this it was down-rated, but down-rating it will not change the game mechanics).

Under rating threshold (show) calash - I've tried to figure that out too with little luck. I don't know why really, but I've settled on building no more than 10 packet speed enhancements when I have to send packets across the map. Anything more than 10 seems to have very little benefit.

Under rating threshold (show) Crikey - at least 40 starts before I did it with 7351. Method was pretty much what Plixus and gsklee did... put the city on the left of the terrace at the top/middle. build collectors, get the 20% faster upgrade, build a morter and a laser while you build a line of collectors out to the left. Fly the morter to the left once its got some ammo packets. Use the laser to protect the morter. Build another single laser on the tabletop near the city, but so that the big depression is out of range. You'll need two SAMs to survive the first spore attack. Around that time build a couple reactors because you'll be out of accessible land area. Then just work down the tabletop and consolidate.

Under rating threshold (show) Finally beat today's map (2013.01.05)! Strategy used is very similar to @Plixus' (don't think there's other viable strategy either), but after the first spore attack you need to have at least one Drone ready to make the real difference; Mortars alone can't prevent you from being overran!

Under rating threshold (show) @ gidder - This map is indeed challenging, compliments to the creator! Here was my strategy for 5th January 2013: Fly the base to the nearest left plateau, get the upgrade (+20% building speed), build some Collectors along the upper rim and a Mortar to bomb the left pit. That buys you some time. Build a Blaster to keep the Creeper from Base, increase energy, build SAMs. After the first aerial attack, fight back Creeper in the pits with an airlifted Mortar or a Drone. Once the Mesa is clear, you can easily keep the creeper low with Mortars.

Under rating threshold (show) IANF1 - First thing, try placing your city closer to the blasters. The shorter distance means packets are getting to them quicker. Chronicler is right, your city can only send out so many packets at once. The problem you are having is the reason why people can't extend survival mode forever... eventually the creeper will by too much for the max packet production of the city. Second thing you probably know, but it's worth mentioning for those that might not... try to keep that deficit out of the red. Early in the map you'll have to run a deficit at times, but late in the map it's best to try and keep it out of the red. The system is most efficient when you only use the packets you have.

Under rating threshold (show) 1. Hit Pause right at the start and study the terrain. Use Pause often during the game. 2. Move Odin City to a different location at the beginning. Look for higher ground, closer to the totems, but not too near the emitters. 3. At the start, click the green button on Odin City. This turns off totems packets. Turn it back on just before you connect all the totems! 4. Be careful with energy management and don't build weapons sooner than you'll need them. Build collectors before building reactors. Collectors are more efficient than reactors. 5 . The longer the interval for spores, the more spores there will be. They will always arrive from behind where the emitters are located. 6. Upgrades: Choose carefully. Some upgrades will use energy. If you don’t have energy, choose other upgrades. 10% more energy when you have 2 energy is less than 10% off building cost.

Under rating threshold (show) I had an idea for future creeper games. Hear me out. Once a good enough base is established the game becomes rather easy. To introduce a new challenge to the game, why not have another unfriendly "nation" that is also trying to harvest energy and escape the creeper? This other nation (or nations?) would force a two front war and could make for an interesting challenge. Perhaps a challenge mode? Whatcha think?
