It has been over 20 years since Contra release and still game developers ignore it as a model for their games. This one suffers from slow pace, bad weapons and low difficulty.

Gets a bit boring in the last set of lvls, the bosses are no real challenge. I got all the items (best weapons anyways) after the second boss (well i got the economics book first but still-) so you dont have to make any choices... its a nice little game without any longlivety and id say no replayabilety but still 3/5 since it has a nice feel to it at the start and i got what i expected. Even so why would i want to replay it as a cop or psycho if it doesnt give me anything?

1) different characters need to have different attributes
2) money needs to be harder to collect, or rather items need to be more expensive and have a considerable difference of cost between each.
3) Create a score system maybe? lose points for getting hurt, gain bonus points depending on how quickly you completed the level?
4) you definitely could've added a lot more to the story in this game
but overall, i found this to be a pretty nice game, like the music :)
3.7/5

for those who think the game is considerably easy. challenge yourself, try to complete the game without buying anything and dying as little as possible

its too easy to get money, need more upgrades, lvl up system, faster walking, more characters and an upgrade to get a helper/body gaurd. other than that 5/5

Awesome game. I wish it was longer and I wish the different characters did different things, but other than that I loved it. I really hope Kongregate adds badges!

I have to rate this game 1 of 5 because it is unplayable if you click the play button and nothing happens. Fix the glitch and I'll give it an honest rating

Easiest game I've played by a country mile. Didn't die once, had no problems with any of the bosses and none of the enemies are more than a mild hindrance. Completed all achievements bar one in one playthrough (not counting the 'finish with x character' ones). Just way too easy. May have made it a bit easier on myself by not upgrading weapons and going for the coin boost upgrades first but can't see it making much difference at all, the game could probably be finished without buying a single upgrade :/

I like this game. I hope you continue to make more. Yes, this one is a bit easy. Yes, the upgrade system can be improved, but I don't care this game was great anyways. Good graphics, good music, perfect hit/platform indicator. Nice little Mega Man theme going here. Definitely make some more games similar to this one, just crank up the difficulty a tad and add some depth to the uprgrades, e.g speed upgrades, jumping upgrades, and improve the one that are here already e.g weapons/armor/items. Anyways, good game I like it, I hope to see more. 5/5

Auto shoot: Unlocked. Hold down the shoot button and right click the game window, then left click back on the game screen. Run around shooting like a mad man. Sweet.

I absolutely love the concept and feel of the game. That being said, there need to be several crucial adjustments/changes. 1. Money is too easy to come by. I only actually HAD to buy 2 guns. Perhaps have the game remember coins collected on the first attempt at a level, so you cant just recollect them infinitely. 2. The enemies are too predictable/easy to kill. 3. Perhaps add another element to the game, such as limited bullets, a neutral race that you shouldn't kill, boxes you have to push around, etc. 4. Speed things up. I felt like I was spending half the game waiting for a platform to come down. Make them faster or make everything faster.

Did anybody else start making Heavy Weapons Guy noises when they were firing the minigun? BRRRRRRRYATATATATATAYATATATABZZZZZZZ
Only thing I didn't like was the pulse laser. The final weapon should have some special effect or sound or something. I was very underwhelmed by the little poots of light.

This game is a fun little pastime, but hardly a gem. There are several annoyances: I had all the best gear at the start of the second world, I had all the achievements except those involving using another (identical!) character after my first play-through (seriously, an achievement for killing ONE enemy?), and the level design is blocky and doesn't change much between worlds. That said, I did play it to the end, and it has a retro feeling that makes you appreciate what's good about the new times. 2/5

2/5. One star for smooth UI, one for amusing characters / powerups. But...the gameplay is boring. No challenge, no plot, no setting, and no interesting features -- just jump around on some platforms and slowly pump 8 bullets into each lizard-thing. Woo.

A jolly little casual platformer. Entertaining in that "old school" way I love so much.
I have only one little niggle; that the different characters had different abilities.
Otherwise I've been wholly entertained :)

Too easy to get all the best stuff, hence you get it too early.
You need WAY more colors in the palette, the visual design is boring and depressing.
Also, you need way more enemies.
Like a lot of stuff on Kong, this is a decent start of a game. Now finish it!

Good: Music
Bad: No Skills/Abilities, Boring and repetitive mob/boss AI, Too easy to upgrade everything
Beat the second boss with the first character and stopped playing.
1/5 Stars

Solid attempt. I thought the movement was well done, as well as the overall design and graphical style. However, as a number of others have said, it was too easy to get the good weapons, and after that the game became trivial. The final boss was too easy with maximum health and the best gun, as well as having too predictable of a mechanic. 4/5

Liked the game just a few comments though. i think the whole money system is kinda messed up i mean the upgrades are cheap and you can skip from 1st to last gun before the first boss if you wanted. I liked the entire story line but like others have said maybe some variety would help, the characters are kind of useless, in my opinion you could choose like nyan cat if you are just gonna make the characters the same i also agree that the game should be hard every time you restart it. The enemies are also bland, the life system is great kinda like Mario but the only difference between enemies was the shape and if they flew, crawled, ran, or walked, or could shoot guns. I love what you were trying for, everything is there, you just need some more variety. Every one please plus this comment if you agree. I give your game a 4/5 because your story line is there, everything, works, but the variety isn't there. Nice game, hope you make more.

Personally I can't rate this game any higher than 3/5 due to a few flaws. 1. Platforms move much too slowly. 2. The level design feels very uninspired. 3. You can't drop down through platforms. 4. Enemies are too easy and don't have any real variety. 5. Guns have no variety and you can too easily skip from first to last. 6. The game is far too easy, due to enemies weak A.I. and overpowered weapons... Overall, I must say the makings of a fun game are there, but it felt more like a chore to play it.
