This game rules! 5/5! The story is just great, the gameplay is simple and fun, and I love hearing what people have to say - and for people that don't, it's good that you can skip it as well. Please make a sequel, and not in Flash - make it and put it on the Ubuntu Software Center, make it for Windows, and for Mac. I would suggest Unity3D, but that doesn't run on Linux. Good job!

I am actually replaying this game because it is so fun and the story is amazing! :D This is one of the few games I have played that actually made me want to replay it after beating it a year ago. XD I also can't stop whistling that theme that plays during the stages. XD

This game, while lacking a bit in actual game, has an incredible story that I've honestly never forgotten since I first played this FLASH GAME a few years ago. Now, whenever I hear soft, saddish piano music in a game, I start thinking furiously "What's that game called? Starfish? RPG Shooter something?"
Please make a sequel, I would pay for it!

I connected with every character freaking instantly, except Mare, because he/she hasn't actually said anything yet... The Captain is a wise but friendly old woman whose intuitive predictions are almost always spot on. Deuce is a protective warrior who would sacrifice himself for the good of the whole. Deadeye is (so far) a mechanical genius whose brain has not much room for social skills because of all the weapon systems swirling around in her mind. Johnny is the opposite, knowing people extremely well, but I haven't spoken to him enough to really know him.

And Ginny? One of my two favorite characters from Firefly, obviously! Freaking LOVE that mechanic! So happy, even if she does have some guilt from her past surface life. Who have I missed... Oh, Swig. Besides the ship's drunk and one of the biggest sources of moral support for Deuce, I haven't really gotten much of his character. Oh, he is fairly wise at times and can understand people and their intentions pretty well though. And that is all I have gained just from playing through the tutorial and Skies of Syd! I haven't even played any of the other levels yet.

How do I... uh... Equip new weapons? I would rather not use a level one machine gun and bomb throughout the entire game...

@SCGD4, yes it's possible to beat the beginning Firebolt and earns you an achievement. Check the developer's website at http://starwish.auriplane.net/ and read the FAQs. The answer is there.

WISP:This is a horrible boss constantly moving and bullets(although bullets dont deal much dmg)You have to dodge not he usually crosses from mid of the screen fire saws thr then DUCKCrystal drag:same strategy as drone mothership only easier Monolith:aim for the green areas with charge charge to full power

Some tips for each enemy and boss:Drone Mothership:Fairly easy just a couple fo beams that donotdomuchdamageandblueorbs.Miningship:There really is no proper strategy luck lasers and dodging was mineCity Master: Hard without dodging skills on third stage the red orb highly hurts suggestion would be evasionRocket snail:Fairly easy watch out for the rockets as they will go red when its about to charge go up at the moment it begins to charge and as fast as u can make a circle to your location. You may take damage from red eyes which should be killed first
Living heart: There is a safe spot just above the middle bot laser from whr u can fire and not take dmg at allSubmersible:This and wisp were some of the hardest for me the submersible throws missiles and bullets and barges into you best weapon saws maybe crush but not tested

A few things occur to me: I feel obligated to play, and beat, this at least once every few months, the telltale sign of a great game. Its average rating of 4.2 is relatively high. And ALMOST 2 MILLION PLAYS (hurrah!) implies that people tend to agree with my very, very high opinion of it. I hope the sequel I was told is potentially in the works comes to fruition ;)

"Well, it’s confirmed: xdanond is making a sequel. It’s likely going to be based on the Tessa ending based on what he says the poll results are. "
Are you fxcking kidding me? Swig's and Dedai's endings are the best hands down.

Started playing this game thinking ah this is alright I guess, I found myself playing for over an hour I love it! You must make another and make it fullscreen!

It's highly depressing, that I have played this game a few times within the past year or so, and there will most likely never be a sequel, in my honest opinion this is the best flash game that has EVER been made.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The best plot I've ever encountered in a flash game hands down. I just wish the "shooter" dynamic were a bit more fleshed out.

the bosses in this game make even less sense than sonny and that game stopped giving any explanation for why you're fighting what you were. seriously a ship that looks like a snail. Just picture it they went to get permission to build it and got the response you want you're ship to look like a giant snail with rockets? okay it makes as much sense as the giant box so why not?

ok if a sequel does happen please for the love of god DO NOT MAKE RE-ADD ALL MY F**CKING SKILL POINTS AT THE START OF NEW GAME PLUS!!! Its kind of annoying especially the way I do it: making sure everything is on the same level. Seriously I just individually added a skill point to every stat. to put it another way: I just added over 400 skill points one at a time!

Easily one of the best games I've played here on Kong. Terrific story, memorable characters, and great level up system. I would love to see an anime or a major game developer take this story into consideration. xdanond, you have a talent, utilize this gift my friend! Praise to your future endeavors!

@Pats133 Stuff is explained. Oh, and just so you know, Deadeye doesn't sell anything worse than your current weapon, and when you buy a weapon, the worse weapon is automatically un-equipped and the better one replaces the weapon that is in that spot. For example: You have a level 10 Machinegun. You buy a level 11 Machinegun. The level 10 Machine gun is un-equipped and is replaced by the level 11 Machinegun.

Nothing is explain? Cmon i bought new weapons but they dont appear to get equipped. Nor do i see the point of the weapon switching buttons, as i cant even switch to my "new" weapons i bought which i cant find anywhere

I feel like a book could be written on the game's storyline. Thank you xdanond for the masterpiece known as RPG Shooter: Starwish.
