Tips from other comments and my own experiences:
-Four nights/superheroes keep the spawning under control (5 max on screen)
-Save every time: lots of glitches and or flash player crashes
-If you buy from both alignments, sometimes some of the spells from one won't work. Reloading usually fixes this.
-For ninjas, moving the cursor from above quickly can grab them before a jump
-For knights, moving the cursor from overhead to the right/left in a slant usually causes them to swing and miss
-Freeze time is pretty effective on the first house of each level to not loose a bunch of life before you have four knights/superheroes
-Using S or W can move objects forwards or backwards while held in hand. Handy for moving rocks out of the way
-Deep breaths. Lots of breaths

Kelley shut the hell up. I speak for all of the good and cool people of Kongregate but you when I say shut up and stop talking about yourself. Jeez.

These men have created parachutes, wingsuits and jetpacks, yet they can't seem to figure out modern housing. Very interesting culture.

Random Person: Hey boss lets go up out of this cellar when he comes out-Boss: yes good idea soldier as soon as this house gets destroyed and can climb out and get ourselves killed- why are the NPCs like that?

So I started playing again later only to find the saves were gone. I got really far and now I am noticing the game is lagging. Usually only when knights are on the field but that is really bad. It is now near impossible to dodge them. Not to mention the issue with selecting spells. Whenever I hover over the spells they move up and so now I no longer hover on them so they move down over and over till I manage to get it. I think I don't like this game on more than just preference.

Things that piss me off about this game:
Ninjas.
Sometimes my gauntlet just randomly stops
working and I have to refresh the page to make it work -
which takes forever.
When the game doesn't register my click
and a villager just slowly slips past me.
Ninjas.
When a villager I've thrown into the air
manages to land at the _exact_ spot where
I'm now clicking to kill someone...
Ninjas and knights.
The fact that you use up mana simply by choosing a spell
even though you're not using it on villagers. Great idea.
Knights cutting my virtual hand.
My actual hand/wrist hurting from playing this sick joke of a game.
Ninjas.
