Pretty good, the one thing I think would make this better (improve it and get it closer to canabalt's quality) is the transition from hooking the floating pads into being able to use your double jump. Maybe make it so that you press down to launch your hook or something. Because it sucks hooking something only to have epic fail happen.

o i beat the entire thing before i realized you could throw ninja stars lol great game though similiar to canabalt but i like this alot better a little bit easier to stay on the platforms with the speed up and down buttons plus i love ingame achievements 5/5

sorry for double post, but i would just like to point out that the double jump(and regular jump for that matter) can be deadly. it's happened quite often that after a failed jump i fell right into the pit. it can also save you, though, like when you've made a wrong jump and you ended up right beside the platform, just double jump, and it'll save your ass. key word to almost everything in game; TIMING.

@kickassmaster, you don't need the shurikens while you're going at full speed, if you just go full speed and crash right into the enemies, you'll kill them. also, i've found that a good strategy is to hold the speed up button, but to release it at certain points, all while retaining that star thing around you. that way, you'll kill everything in your path, and be as fast as can be. 4/5, really good man, keep it up.

Pretty good. The best of the "auto-run" type games I've played (including the half-assed Prince of Persia and a couple others). This was a step in the right direction for the genre, but it's still missing something.

The true beauty of Canabalt was that ir required only one key and was about as simple as a game could get. I like the Double jump and the ability to kill enemies. However, I think that you made it to complex. If there wasnt a slow and speed up then it would take more skill then just taking it easy and going on forever. I personally felt that it was almost required to hold the right arrow down to get the same feel as Canabalt. Where your increase in speed is both needed and feared to have. Thats my big problem with it, I also dont like the sheild thing because it gets rid of the whole purpose of enemies. Over all a good game worth the whole 4/5.

Regarding the Grapple, its not the arrow keys that applies the grapple, its the jump key, and just as ishooturmom said: just don't hold the jump key down, tap it and your grapple will work more effectively.

Too easy. Get rid of the invincibility with the speed running. Add more things than grappling hook and red ninjas... Make the ninja do stunts or something? :P
5/5 though, pretty entertaining.

Variable speed + double jump + enemies + grappling = better than canabalt. (though canabalt DOES have the best music ever)

I think that the grapple function needs to have a bit of work done. It seems to activate on random some times. Maybe you could use the V key to manually activate it? Good game though.

great game 5/5. You should make it so that you only have the protection when you are going at top speed. Either that or you only have one life.

Add a highscore thing. That would be nice. It starts to lag after a while so maybe a turn off shuriken particles button would be nice. It makes me think of Ninja Gaiden: your more likely to die from falling into holes than losing all your health. I gotz a 5860 XD

Why is canabalt so good? I mean its just a guy running and repetitiveness is at its most. This game is better, has more "options". Hell, even Leo Steel is better than canabalt.

Very easy game, got all achievements except two first time round, if you just run full speed the whole time the enemies are meaningless.

I don't like how the speed up and slow down buttons work. Half the fun of Canabalt was in managing your speed with minimal controls. This is a much more run of the mill platformer.

I do enjoy a good game, but i disagree with linking added content back to another website, in my honest opinion, when you post something on this website then the content should either be full or in some cases have to paid for such as Fantastic Contraption, but otherwise the full contented game should either be published here or not published here at all and people will go to your website if they want to play the game, basically all it is, is free advertising and not giving Kongregate a single cent.

3/5. Controls, though simple, work without any trouble, and the graphics, also simple, are clean and don't have any glitches. It's incredibly repetitive though. I expected it to get a little more difficult by the time I made it to 3700m, but I just got bored with it and didn't feel like trying again after I died.

After running to 2400m for a few times and dieing from lag, I think the lag could be usefull sometimes as: Bullet Time!
Why not add it as a feature next time that power upon enemies deaths?
Great Clone BTW, Canabelt should definitely follow your example and give the guy a weapon.

Quite a neat game. I like how you can shoot and speed up/ slow down, but I'd like a little more of a challenge. There could be an easy, medium, and hard mode, to provide this challenge whilst still allowing the game to be playable by people who don't seek such challenge. I'd also like to see the scenery as changeable, I think that would be pretty interesting. It would be kinda cool if there were a storyline, or at least a set of missions, that get progressively harder and harder, with upgrades being available such Shuriken damage, the enemies could be given varying levels of health. As it stands, I'll give this game a 4/5.

Being able to hold or tap jump to jump different heights is pretty important to the genre. The double jump is sweet though.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Being invulnerable when running fast makes the enemies pointless...and you should almost always be running at full speed (pulling back to make some jumps). Throwing stars and hit points are redundant given that.
The double jump and the grappling hook both need work (double jump doesn't always work, and the grappling hook lets go too quick). Remove invulnerability when at full speed and hit points to make enemies a threat.
4/5 'cuz I love Canabalt. :)

Great game, great fun, great addition to the Canabalt genre. There's only some little things that aren't clear after playing the tutorial:
It isn't quite clear the first times, but the grapple isn't automatic. It works when you're holding the jump button, X. Also, the Stone Skin effect that comes from going fast basically means that you kill enemies by just touching them.

I hated Canabalt because it set up things that you couldn't possibly achieve without warning (which it did not give you). This has gone too far the other way. There's just no challenge.
