Please tell me this is just a demo version, or if it isn't - that you're already making a sequel. This game is lots of fun, but needs more of everything. More upgrades and more levels. Gold is meaningless after you've killed the Dragon a couple of times, and my Catapults are stuck at level 2 and always die because I can't get any more exp for them as I've completed the last level.

Toastmaster brings up some good points, I just wanted to add that another game to look to for inspiration would be Rome: Total War or anything in that series. It's the game that came to mind while I was playing this.

short, shitty story, upgrade stuff to win, game letting you auto position. all the strategy is "make your troops walk to the ranged troops if there is any. if there isnt, just stand still"
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
there is no strategy to speak of in this game. at all. i find it laughable how games like this are under the category of strategy.

Very short game, repeated enemy tactics of simple attack from the back. also upgrades appear broke once cavalry was upgraded nothing would kill them and could solo maps

HOLY crap dude amazing game. Is it possible to make this into a multiplayer or get some kind of pvp were you get a fixed amount of money AND buy troops. and upgrade. Like the total war series online gameplay. And get longer campaign

(cont.) 4. Squad history. For example, units that die in battle stay dead, but can be replaced with new recruits. Maybe money doesn't buy weapon and armor upgrades -- only experience through multiple battles makes a unit better. This provides incentive to keep your units alive, and give them experience. 5. A real story or campaign. The current battles seem disconnected, and new units are just "awarded" with no effort. A campaign might start with small squad skirmishes, and gradually get bigger until you're controlling an entire division. It should feel like you're growing or maturing as the campaign progresses. Multiple paths or challenges might force thought-provoking decisions, such as having a battle that awards a catapult squad but is really difficult. Do you want to sacrifice your current veterans now to get the catapults, or bypass them and save your units? For games that have done this strategic aspect very well, see Myth: The Total Codex or Sid Meier's Gettysburg.

Really good. Clean gameplay with no lag, especially since simulating each individual person in a squad should really exercise your cpu. A few suggestions: 1. Strategic features. Right now, it seems once 2 squads collide, it's a free-for-all based on weapon, armor rank, and experience. But attacking a squad from behind or the flank should be advantageous. Two or more squads against one could also provide bonuses. Possibly allow terrain with height, so archers and knights might get a bonus for attacking downhill, and holding high ground becomes important. Attaching from forest might provide defensive bonuses 2. Bigger maps, with zoom features, so you can place all your units without crowding each other or the enemy. This will also allow strategic features to play out, such as flanking. 3. Slower pace, also to allow strategic features to play out. (continued next msg)

Would be nice if you could reduce the amount of battle sounds that play when a squad attacks another squad to make it sound like a battle and not scratchy and almost unidentifiable. other than that i really like this game!

We can replay levels for more gold, but I wish we could replay levels for more experience as well, even if it's only a small portion of Exp.

is it just me, or does it look like there is a SPOILER LOL secret final unit at the bottom? Beat the game just now and didn't get one =(

great game but i think a bit more in the story line department, instead of just completing a mission then hearing about getting a jewel in the next battle maybe a cutscene or something emphasizing the storyline, it feels like im just jumping from one battle to the next

This game is great, and I have to agree with most of the past comments. 1- The maps and spawn areas should be bigger (once all your squads level up it gets pretty crowded). 2- There needs to be less, tougher opponents. 3- i think the enemies should all look a little bit more alike, but your troops all look more different, to tell them apart. I don't know how many times i sent my archers to fight a horde of enemies instead of my swordsmen. I did learn to use the little symbols over their heads, but was still a little confused. 4- The mouse-money collection thing is pretty annoying. 5- The pace of the game should be a little slower, but I do like the little surprise attacks that come from every direction. And 6- The whole terrain idea from nbrailer would be a cool way to include a little more strategy to the game.
These are just suggestions. Honestly, this is the best game I've seen on Kongregate in a long time. I'm looking forward to a sequel!!

Great game, obviously weakened by lack of replayability/shortage of mission number/scroll over coin collection/low value in coins. Survival mode helps quite a bit, but still. Just the same I cannot imagine how one would justify rating it below 4/5. The game is cleverly written and undeniably fun. Would recommend, hope it gets badges.

Rofl the first 2 seconds playing this game i noticed that your troops choose to walk throuh the enemy and get slaughtered rather thenattack them..Poorly made bro.

A fun game. One problem I'm having is that sometimes there is just one enemy left on the map, and no one will attack/kill him. I end up having to restart the mission.

loved the total war feel to it, but it was extremely short and easy. if you can pan out the camera so that there is much more battlefield you could do a whole lot more with it. Also being able to kill a hundred baddies while i lose only a handful is OP on my part.

You might think it's a "tactical challenge" to suddenly have a bunch of bees swarm my troops from behind with no warning or chance to react (and note, I only lost a couple squads, no problem winning the scene). I think it's cheap. If you can't "challenge" us without exploiting our blindness to off-screen enemies, and the microseconds it takes us to respond, then you need to revisit how to make the game challenging and rewarding to players. This is otherwise a wonderful genre of game to see as a free Kong game, and I think it has huge potential. Please take this as constructive criticism!

rated a 1 for the mouse-collection of gold... this is a bad idea, eventually developers will stop using it, no one likes it.
