@JohnSmithBSc, It's a little confusing, but hold is manual in the sense that you determine where your men walk instead of them automatically seeking out targets.

For the first few plays this seemed dreadful. The computer players seemed to always win every battle, no matter how much bigger your armies were. It was a while before I worked out that in a battle, you have to actually tell your army to attack (never mind the help page that says attack is automatic and hold is manual, the opposite is true), otherwise your armies will stand there like a dead fish waiting to be slaughtered. You have to press 'hold' when the battle starts, which is what makes your armies NOT hold, but attack!

This is a great game. A little too easy though.. they should've had options for easy, medium and hard. Also "goldmine", which says "prefecture revenue 1.5X" is only 1.4X... whats up with that?? lol

I have just 2 problems with this game so far. Later on in the game, if you zoom out to get an overview, you can't see individual armies and if you zoom in to see individual armies, you can only see a few provinces. armies need to be bigger, or provinces smaller. Also, gaia is a titan.

Best way to win against regular ( not boss) is full ninja rush past, kill ranged the use shurikans and keep rushing past samuria till they r dead :) green giants for bosses :/

@Buckadilla when they use shields, just move the unit cursor on the bottom past them (click and drag) then set them to 'hold' they will walk straight past anything and go where you tell them, including shield people.

My average game* goes as follows:
3rd place: Gunma, Prefectures: 2, Troops**: 50 (11 Passive)
2nd place: Chiba, Prefectures: 5, Troops**: 38 (11)
1st place: Okinawa, Prefectures: 34, Troops**: 211 (3)
*Recorded on day 54
**Does not include training units

Soldiers Journal Day 35:
Hokkaido has taken the North. Every day they attack our walls and every day we repel them. Despite our early gains in taking the center of Japan many fear our advance stalled. We dare not attack for fear of another prefecture striking as our troops leave. Every day reports from the east tell of Hokkaido eating away Kanagawa's hold. Soon the southern castle shall be under siege as well, but unlike its northerly cousin it has no walls to defend it. In the west, Okinawa is gaining in power, but they are thankfully a long way from testing our forces.
As I write the horns sound once again, Hokkaido comes to die on our walls again. Despite our strength in holding here, I fear all may be lost if our gambit fails.

this game is one of my favorites and its been around for ike 4 years now if you think it can improve think about when it was made and with what technology. I definitively agree with making a second version or even a third one after, you know what with enough effort this could be a funded game.

Love this game. Beat it 2-3 times, but needs at least one badge. Perhaps a easy badge for conquering your first territory and a medium badge for beating the game?

sometimes a button for destryting your units is useful because you have archers occuping a place that could be filled with ninjas
