@acmer: The weapons are definitely optional. Spells are fun though, especially when you get the top end ones! When you fire a spell every 50 matches instead of every 5, it's less annoying, and the spells are ubercool.

That was a sick demo. I loved the Match 3 / Tower Defense mix in this game. The dudes are constantly coming at you and you're trying to make quick matches to shoot fireballs at them and halt their progress. This game tops any tower defense game that I've played. In a normal TD game, you get some number of lives and when an enemy reaches your tower you instantly lose a life. In this game, when an enemy gets there, they stand there and attack the tower, doing damage per second and you can still attack and kill them. On top of that, you can make match5s in the shape of a T or L to get Health drops which heal your tower 100 points. At one point I'd saved up 6 health drops and just had one guy at the bottom attacking me, while I made match4s (obtaining gold drops).
This game is so awesome. 5 Stars easily.
