Hint: You have to click the hints before solving the puzzle. Theres a coloured umbrella for example and you first have to click it before the game accepts the code. The "item in wrong spot" problem can sometimes be resolved by using the item thats still clickable. Then the other item is "free" again.

Clicked on a 'sponge' or 'stone' looking item from a color-open area, it stuck in the wrong inventory spot. Broken entirely.
