Thats the challenge of the game, if you keep trying then you will get it. Youre not supposed to get it the first time.

the mechanics feel a bit sloppy, hard to control. Not sure whether to point out the huge penalty for death because I think this is on purpose.. but it seems there's no sense of achievement other than a new level loading; no progression within the same level, and no feedback for finishing one. Were torches initially thought to be save points for spawning?

It's good, just needs to adjust the inertia a bit (when it jumps on the wall it bounces too hard) and sometimes it's moving too fast to see anything then you die, if it moved a little slower in a long jump it'd be easier to learn where to land and things like this.
