I feel like this game had a lot of potential that it almost, oh so very almost met. Atmosphere was well-done. The feeling of being completely alone in an unfamiliar environment was nicely done, sound of only wind and distant animal noises in place of music a very nice touch. Controls were easy, and it's a very good implementation of the "power up to advance" method. Also, the pixel style is perfect for this. Reminds me a bit of "After Years In Dark Tunnels". However, the presence of guardians and clues made me think there was a big surprise at the end, but I was disappointed to find there was none. You fought the last guardian, and then..."The humans move in, game over." Lack of a twist wouldn't bother me so much, I think, it the game hadn't been building up to one. In fact, I think this would have been a great candidate for multiple endings. So, to sum up: Very good game, but I feel like with just a little more put into the story, it could have been truly great.

This feels like the start of a truly great metroid like game, but there's not enough content here for it to rate better than good for now. Take the Robot wants X games, even in the very first and simplest one there were at least twice as many power-ups as what we see here and far less empty space to traverse. What's there is good, but there needs to be more.
