It is *very* similar to Red Storm Defense, even to the same spelling errors in the Tutorial, BUT on Badim's website (the creator of Red Storm Defence), http://www.elite-games.net/elite-games.html, MechDefender is listed as one of his games. Must admit, it's a pretty cool variation on the Red Storm idea.
