The game is good ( For 6 weeks, and for who is still learning ). But let me give you just Tips to make the Gameplay better: The game isn't so fun after a few minutes, I mean, it becomes boring, because all you need to do is avoide de "balls" and smash them. You should put a little power-ups in game, to make the playerbase better, or a power customization ( Like in Amorphous+ ). Other thing is, the music make the game uncomfortable ( Thank god there's a Mute Buttom ), so you should put a music more "Faster" ( To make the game more fast-paced ), not only faster, but everthing not so repetitive. Another thing is that you could put a background on the level, or something, to make the game more enjoyable ( And slowly, improve the graphics of the player and mobs too! ). And for finish, a good interface ( Clean ). I'm not saying that your game isn't good, quite the contrary! This is just tips to you improve it. But if you wanna a rate, i'd give a 3/5 for you. :)

the sword feels a bit unresponsive. it seems that not every time I click the guy swings it. you could use cooldown bars like some other games do to show which skills are available. I'm rating this 3 for good effort. my tip is to work on what makes the game fun and improve graphics for another version ;)

This game is quite good for a quick beginner's project; the effort shows :) It does get very repetitive though, and I agree with Tiowzim, the music is a bit slow and despressing for an action game (along with the black background).
Overall, though, it's a good demonstration of your progress with AS3, and I'm sure that if you were to expand upon this concept, it could be quite fun :)
P.S. As a fellow AS3 student, I was just wondering what method you used to detect the sword collision. Was it just "hitTestObject()"?
