An evolution sandbox where you create, evolve, and share creatures.

World of Walkinator improves upon the original Walkinator game I released ~6 years ago. No longer a school project and instead a game in it's own right, World of Walkinator has a full fledged editor with undo/redo support, selection tools, tendons, improved evolution algorithm, practically boundless world size, fullscreen support, simultaneous simulating/viewing/editing, and is all-around more polished than Walkinator v1.

I can't wait to see what you can make with it!

플레이 방법

Make a creature in the editor, evolve it in the evovler, and then view & share the results in the viewer.
Tips:
You can move the camera by middle clicking and dragging(except in view mode where it always follows the creature) and can zoom in/out with the scroll wheel.
If you lose track of where you moved your camera, press space. It will reset the camera.
You can go between the various tabs at the top at any time, for example, to view a creature while running the evolver, simply switch tabs! You can even make a new creature in the editor while the evolver is running(currently you can only evolve one creature type at a time though -- so your new creature will have to wait for the current creature to finish evolving before you can evolve it).
-The viewer will always pull the latest data from the evolver... so if you are in the middle of evolving a creature, it might update the best/highest/worst/etc in the background. So for example, the next time you push the load best button, it will load the new best.
There's practically no limit to the size of your creature other than your imagination as well as how much it slows down your computer. If you make a REALLY big creature, turn down the max # of creatures at once property in the evolver... It will take longer to evolve but it won't lag as much.
Fullscreen mode makes it easier to make big creatures.
Don't forget you can change the grid size, or disable grid snapping with the "Grid Settings..." button.

idea- walkinator platformer: after building your walkinator and evolving it, you can play it in a platformer, where the > arrow makes it replay the movement it did before it went the fastest, and the ^ arrow relplays the movement before it went the furthest upwards...

Thanks for taking my idea and implementing it. Much more that I expected.
http://rednuht.org/genetic_cars_2/ I think has a few features that this could use. Such as hiding simulation to speed it up. Timeout of generations that are not moving.

Attaching tendons to bones can be very tedious because the tendon wants to snap to the grid, but bones are likely at an angle to the grid. Having bones have their own snap grid would be an improvement.
