I actually believe it is the Sonic ring collection sounds.
Anyway, fun game, holding ctrl should be continuous fire in my opinion, also the points icons should be different, I too thought they were blood.

Liked pretty much everything, but still needs lots of stuff. Like iraq said, make the user come back for more. In-game achievements would be fun.
