I like the concept of trying to incorporate something educational, although I do not feel it was implemented well for the following reasons: -(1)- It just interrupts the flow of the game - (i.e. constant pausing in the middle of an action game).
-(2)- The math is used to reinforce a negative aspect (by giving a penalty of a full reload time) for the player doing something correct (i.e. firing at an enemy). I can understand that it was meant as a bonus to reload quicker, but just comes across as ->"You hit your target! Now answer this math question or suffer a long wait timer to fire again."
-(Suggestion)- Perhaps it would be better to change it to use the math for a more 'positive' effect by taking away a negative that the player has done. For example, the player gets killed and uses the math to 'save' him/herself from the Game Over screen. This does not interrupt the flow of gameplay because the Game Over screen already has interrupted the gameplay.
