Not bad, in fact. If there's more platforms(trap platforms, springboards...), a jump button and a little bit of beauty, it would be ok. The history is fine(if it is a history, or just a excuse to say you are bad). 3/5.

Johnathan, he said specifically that this was his first attempt, ever, and wanted constructive criticism. And, to paraphrase your comment, just because you can make an ignorant comment doesn't mean you should.
Deke, here are a few suggestions:
Get some decent art, to improve initial reaction to the game.
Give a 3 second countdown before the game actually starts, to give a new player the chance to get ready.
Add the ability to jump.
Make the collision detection a bit tighter (occasionally I would barely miss a platform, only to be saved and 'twitched back onto the platform I was aiming at)
Consider adding stages instead of making it one long excursion (i.e., different sections of the cave.
Add powerups. Gamers love powerups. Whether it's to slow down the descent rate or to make the platforms wider, it adds an intriguing element to the game and can make it stand apart from other similar games.

This is a fairly good game. There are a few out there, but not enough. I've seen the comments on here and I agree with the things that are needed to work on, but there is one that I haven't seen. Make the platforms a darker color. I don't know if it's my computer or not, but the light green and about 2 pixel thick lines against a white background, it makes it hard to see. Maybe make the lines black and make them a little bigger.
