Here's what I think this game needs:
-Some kind of transitions. Right now the upgrade screen just kind of pops up on you, maybe a short little music piece indicating that you finished the level, died, and all that good stuff. Anything to make the game feel less abrupt in the way it handles things.
-A better looking upgrade screen. Right now, it doesn't look very natural. Try having the upgrade screen cover all of the screen, and try to get rid of the white boxes, make it blend in a bit better.
-Sound effects for when you fire, get hit, or die. That sort of thing. Always fun to hear the little "pew pew" when you shoot your laser.
The gameplay itself is pretty solid, but right now it doesn't feel like a game due to how abrupt it is sometimes.

more weapons, the ship upgrades should make your ship look different, magnet upgrade, you should be able to see the actual laser weapon on your ship, weapon suggestion, laser beam, guided lasers, when you upgrade a weapon the appearance should look different and if you end up putting the actual weapon on the ship it should also change in appearance. pm me if you want more suggestions i would be glad to help make your game awesome
