Nice and unique puzzle. The lack of direction is actually a plus here. Man people would've over-explained or gave too many hints.

Here's what each symbol does:
Symbol 1- changes the symbols on either side
Symbol 2- changes the symbol to the right to match the one to its left
Symbol 3- changes the symbol opposite it
Symbol 4- changes all the symbols to its left if it's left of the center, and vice versa
Symbol 5- goes in both directions until the end, then changes both of those symbols
Symbol 6-
slot 1: changes slot 5
slot 2: changes slot 1
slot 3: changes slot 6
slot 4: changes slot 2
slot 5: changes slot 7
slot 6: changes slot 3
slot 7: changes slot 8
slot 8: changes slot 4
