This is my 2nd game ever and was started somewhere around August 16th, 2014, and was finished on September 17th, 2014. I made a similar project a few years ago but never finished. It had almost the exact same color scheme and basic art style. I decided to remake the project and this is the result. I am really happy with this game because it is exactly what I wanted to make. Please follow my twitter/tumblr for more updates.

After the crystal breaks and you are transported downward the option to the right. You can make the jump over the hole and exit the level without dying.

Got both pieces of the yellow thing but cannot figure out how to damage the boss. I was able to hit the light ball thingy back at him/her/it but it didn't do any damage. Help!
the boss will hit it back. You have to continue to hit it until either you or the boss miss!

Nice atmosphere, but: 1)controls seem a bit sticky/unresponsive, 2)whether enemies respawn when you die seems inconsistent, 3)after I fixed the bridge on the left and got the shard there, it teleported me back to the center and reset everything: enemies were alive again, bridge was no longer fixed. Annoying since I wanted to keep exploring in that direction and there seemed to be no reason for the bridge to be gone again, 4)then when I took it as a hint that I was done there and went all the way to the right instead (staying up top, instead of climbing down the pole thing), I got to the edge of the screen, kept going--expecting a new screen--and instead fell all the way to the bottom, without dying and apparently without being able to move or do anything (my character was not visible at this point). Reloading, I found that I no longer had the shard.

The atmosphere & story were great but not enough for me to finish it, & I enjoy these type of games. The reason being is that there's no sense of direction. If you're going for a 'journey of exploration' that has deaths then there needs to be some kind of markers, checkpoints or visual clues, maybe even a form of map to show where you've been. Falling & going in the wrong direction can be disorientating because everything looks so similar, & it's tedious doing tiny jump-grabs over & over to reach a dead end. Even the NPC's just seem to be set randomly. Only visual cues were the rope-blocks & the beams of light as far as direction goes. This could easily be a 4 or 5 stars but it lacks gameplay substance. I'd give it a 2 but because the atmosphere, story & visuals were so promising I can't bring myself to give it less than 3. Good luck in the future, I hope to see more from you with a better gameplay aspect :) This is just IMHO of course, maybe others like how the exploration is set up.
