Its a pretty nice game, I understand you just made this as a school project, but if you continue working on it, WASD controls, and maybe some new buttons for laser and rockets instead of playing off of the mouse it could be much improved. Aside from that, maybe a spawn distance so enemies cannot spawn right on top of you, and a shop/leveling system, you could have a pretty awesome game in the making!!

needs pause button, high score tracking, support for wasd control, and a better way to launch missiles-the 0 key comes to mind.
