Made it to floor -7 but still missing a red skull =\ might have to look up a walkthrough for this...got all 8 hearts and been up and down everywhere

there should be an auto potion button where if you can take a potion it will take the potion for you meaning if the potion will still heal max hearts that it can and fill you to max hearts

I don't get how people manage to soft-lock themselves as I finished the game with 2 gold keys and 4 silver and 15 potions

I cant seem to get into hardcore mode, was my progress erased or am I remembering wrong about how we get to that mode?

I can't find the last red skull. I have ALL items, scanned all rooms, but no red skull available. Found the exit at the top, found the exit at the bottom, inserted two purple and one red skull for that one - so yeah, screw this game.

I think there may be a glitch in hardcore mode. Most enemy tiers have +1 defense over the tier before, but in the second set of floors, the blue beasts have 2 more defense than the enemy tier before them, the blue wizards. After that, the tiers have +1 defense again, making hardcore mode, as far as I can tell, impossible.

I have a ton of items, two gold keys, the sword, have opened everything possible and done all of the puzzles. However, I am short two silver keys which I see behind a door that will require a silver key to reach there. I know what the silver keys open and how to get there, but it requires those same keys. It is a paradox and now I'm stuck. :( Faulty game.

For those stuck on floor 27 puzzle follow these steps (identified as (T)op, (M)iddle, (B)ottom and left to right 1,2,3. So you have T1, T2, T3, then M1, M2, M3, then B1, B2, B3.
Move M1 up, M2 right, B2 right, T2 right, M2 up, M3 all the way right

Update: eleven potions and half a heart seems to be possible. I chickened out and used a potion before the flame's lase hit, though. Next time!

I beat hardcore mode with three hearts and ten potions left! Unless I am proven otherwise, I am convinced that this is a perfect run.

@jasondeegan You unfortunately did not play far enough to see that when you level up you can one-hit monsters without being hit back. So you can abuse that in non-hardcore mode to get unlimited experience and win at your own pace. In hardcore mode, the game will be like a puzzle where you have a small leeway but must play very efficient. You unlock that mode by finishing normal mode. So I shared your concern at first but when I played a bit I noticed that you can't get into an unwinnable situation in normal mode unless you really mess up at the beginning (which nearly would need to be done on purpose or by being confused and refighting the same mobs again and again, and even then you'd always get some XP even after you exhausted all potions and eventually get to level 1 where you can one-hit the first mobs and can continue easily). So please give the game another try if you like.

FYI, a perfect "hardcore" ending gives you about 3 hearts of slip room before you get access to the pickaxe, magic sword, and the last glut of supplies. You don't have to be flawless, but you do have to be VERY efficient and know when to checkpoint warp out of certain paths to dodge respawns.

This is an interesting concept with the layered floors. I do not appreciate the monsters coming back and there being a finite number of potions. It would seem you could quickly get to a point where you cannot continue, but rather have to restart the entire game so you know the pattern. For that, 1/5.

I feel that there is 2 things that could improve this game: 1 - The game would do well with a map, especially for hardcore mode so you don't have to remember where you left those 2 enemies and guessing wrongly and losing some of your health from an enemy you need to go through. 2 - This is more of a personal thing but I think it would be nice to have a way to rewind a bit if you made a mistake. Still though, this is a great game and I would highly recommend it.

Normal mode was fun. Hardcore mode, where it becomes a puzzle, was even better -- and incredibly satisfying to solve.

Biggest tip for hardcore: You can checkpoint teleport to bypass rekilling. Get the super knife as soon as you can three hit the blue skulls. Super knife brings in exp from entering rooms of enemies you've killed, so once you get that you've got your win. The checkpoint thing is the big one, though.

due to the restrictions on health restoration, and level up mechanics, especially in hardcore mode, i find this to be more of a puzzle game than a dungeon crawler. this is a good game but i feel like the descriptions a bit off

Level 18 has a hidden break wall after you have a pickaxe in the bottom right to get the purple skull that is so hard to find
