Two big issues I've noticed.

1> The movement isn't bad but the constant needing to click is a pain. How about toggling movement on/off with the spacebar or something and then it will just follow your mouse cursor?

2> You pay for the privilege of having a smaller ship... but that only makes it harder to get stars? Maybe make the star "gathering" area the same size of the original (big) ship... or put in some kind of magnet force to compensate for the smaller size or something.

Otherwise you're off to a great start! Looking forward to future improvements!

How many waves are there? Also, here is an idea: A survival mode to see how long you can survive with only one hit, with High scores for time survived in this mode.

You really need to get rid of movement easing. It makes it really hard to avoid and collect stuff when it's close to the player.
Also, personal preference, I'd like for the upgrades to persist through playthroughs.
